Yeah, I know what you mean... I want to improve my sketches by practicing so hopefully they'll improve some as I go. Making this gives me a reason to draw TONS of new poses... I'll keep that in mind
resident lune-- I know you said something kinda like that too. Oh, and by reference, I meant like seeing the machine and people at different angles. I go to tournaments as often as I can so I have lots of video of almost every song they do, but it'll look boring if the camera is always in the same place every time, ya know?
Maybe that was part of the trouble with page 11, like he said-- Spin the Disc is nothing tricky so neither of them sweat it... but if that makes the drawing not dynamic then that's no good either. Ha ha, well I'll try again this week!
freak-- do you mean after the whole 10K Commotion Tournament is finished? The chapter that's called Final Stage is the end of the Tournament and then Extra Stage is the epilogue. There is a story that goes on after that with the same characters, but it's just about what happens to them in college... not the game anymore (DDR is how the all meet). But I'm more than 200 pages away from that right now-- that manga won't be called 10K Commotion.
[FB]Eckostyle-- thanks! you made my morning I hope I can keep getting better!
Utrimque2-- I hear ya-- tough thing about FS is that the scoring isn't clear. For FS popularity, costume, talent, choreography and all kinds of other factors are important... so sometimes you can argue about who's really better than another player. With PA, scoring is clear and you don't argue about it too much. That makes it easier to accept who is the winner.
There are freestylers in my story, but they haven't been introduced yet... (this first little arcade is just an intro-- the real tournament is still a ways off) One of the judges is a Freestyle Legend and he grades everybody on FS terms which is then added to their PA score.
I've met some awesome FS-ers, especially here in southern california so I'll definitely make reasons to draw them too _________________

You are like...so damn rockin. The coolest idea EVER, and you pulled it off in a way that makes DDR seem even more awesome than it already is. Mad props. I look forward to the rest of the story. |

Oh, the other thing - do you mind if I advertise 10kcommotion in our team's web site and chat room? I've already pointed some friends to it, and we all enjoy it (we've even made a few jokes about FCing/AAAing Spin the Disc ) _________________

Hmm... on the faq, apparently people have asked why it's not solid/inked...
Well, I like it the way it is! Very stylish, if you ask me... _________________

He has to keep reading so he can continue to see how good it is. No point in criticizing something you haven't read.
By the way it doesn't really make sense.

Conman-- sure! ^__^ show it to anyone you think may get it... that's cool
ninjafetus-- thanks, I prefer it too because my ink work seems to lose personality and look too sterile... but yeah, some people think it's really bad.
robotcop-- but me and lots of my friends speak japanese. I'll warn you now because other characters later on will speak korean too...
it's terribly unrealistic to think that the only people who are good at DDR are american, don't you think? any time someone speaks another language, if it's important someone else translates it so all my american friends seem to understand it fine too
speaking of sense, what is " \ddddddddddddd"?
ninjafetus, you might be right -- it's fun to moan about how stuff sucks though... that IS why they watch-- I do it sometimes too I guess I don't mind anymore. s'all good...
dingo koala-- I see that maybe I'm missing some people by switching... robotcop has a point-- if I want it to be more appealing, I guess simple language is better. But it'll be important to know later that Dyna and Breakdown speak japanese to each other.
Ichijyouji-- yeah, you know, I also considered writing the japanese dialogue out in roman letters so people who can't read it could at least sound it out (most anime fans I know can at least recognize simple phrases) but THEN the meaning can get confusing sometimes without the kanji. plus roman letters take up way too much space (just look at Nana's balloon! it's twice as big for the japanese and all she says is "nice to meet you") I wonder what other people think of those options... I'm still experimenting
a_seal-- cool, I've gotten responses both ways... some people really like that it's bilingual, others don't. glad you got it.
And it's true-- the guy with the backpack hasn't said more than a few lines yet so he's very bland right now. hopefully everyone can see what kind of guy he is gradually when he gets to talk more. (I guess the last few pages were mostly introducing the girl and the boy with the GBA SP -- and those two spectator guys, thanks to pyre & that guy we met at Boomers ^__^)
yoroshiku! (which means something like "I leave that all up to you to take how you want and I'll talk to you later"...) _________________

Oh dear, the EMU had to come back for this one! Robotcop is right, Japanese suddenly comes out of nowhere. And what is with this explination of them being Hawaiin and Japanese and some other crap? Oh dear, what is with the Pump It Up reference? Also, you spelled "damnit" wrong. _________________

Dj_Dustbuster-- that could work! it could be a great idea to lighten things up-- some people like the drama (and since I'm a girl I guess some of my friends would rather see me do a shoujo storyline) but I'm open to slapstick too... !

hey EMU, s'up? there's no explanation really... she's asks if they're japanese and he says no. that's all for these few pages...
and we agreed to go with a different spelling for "dammit" because some people think "damn" is a bad word. whenever they swear it'll be spelled differently cause we think it's better than saying things like "darn" or "dang"... i see you decided to use an alternate spelling for "hawaiian" and "explanation" maybe for the same reason?
about Pump it Up? it's another dance game found at lots of arcades that have DDR. lots of people I know are good at both but involving PIU would get me way off track while I'm drawing.
it's too bad many people don't like japanese, but it's too important to story to just pretend that everyone speaks english. (I know lots of people that don't like americans too, but I'm not gonna take them all out of the story-- ha ha) I'm still working out other ways to show the language difference so I'm glad to get feedback about it.
EMU, when you made that comic did you base it on an all american arcade? I'd be interested to see how it's different from mine. broaden my horizons and all yoroshiku!
btw, did you check Jeffrey's flash comic? I mean, he's making an actual COMIC, like it's funny (totally different from my rambling story about some college kids who all meet by playing DDR) I have to give props for his animations skills it's cool... but I think he's busy and won't start updating till later in May-- sore mo yoroshiku! _________________
