I think this songlist is just fine for a Japanese release... (when was the last time we had a really GOOD playstation port of a DDR game in Japan...?)

However, I think a lot of people will be holding off (especially in this country), because we saw how good DDRMax USA was. Compare 15 exclusive songs compared to the 2 that were on DDRMax JP. And people in the US don't need to get a modded/imported Playstation2 to play the US version.

Although it would be nice to have harder stepcharts for the new songs...

Oh please let Sexy Planet, Burning Heat, and Maxx Unlimited still be on the U.S. version. I can't afford a JPS2 or modchips! E2.gif

I doubt that.

For other people wanting My Sweet Darlin, see DDRMAX. License tracks do not repeat as much probably because of licensing issues and they want you to buy their old stock of games. They could put every DDR song from the arcade on one DVD and have room leftover for porno, but they need you to buy a new game every mix to keep going.

True, but I'd hate for There You'll Be, A Minute, It's Raining Men, and More Than I Needed to Know to go the way of Petit Love (which, besides the Korean songs, as far as I know is the only song that was in the arcade version and didn't make it into the home version). If anyone from Konami is reading, please put these on the port of Extreme when that comes out. I think it sucks that MAX2 doesn't have all the MAX2 songs. Honestly, if they leave out the songs that belong and then put in stuff from *4th MIX FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!* that doesn't make the "74 song list" so impressive.
All that being said, this is still a great mix. It would be perfect if it had a "78 song list," but so it is. If you have a JPS2, just go out and get it, alright?

Didn't DDR 4+ have a Metal Gear Solid remix?

Sure, just like the super-secret naked dancing Naoki in 5th Mix for PSX, with the song "Danice Dance d'Amour" by David Hasselhoff.

Anyway, Remy, I know you're a moderator and you have to read every post, but you can't possibly correct all the DDR disinformation out there. Calm down, you'll give yourself an ulcer.

I'm sure having fun trying. E1.gif

(And if this is in regards to the songlist counterclaim at the top of this page, I have a songlist text file from MAXUSA with everything broken down by mix from back when the Geek Crew was trying to assemble the songlist to the game. Most of my big "disproves" or whatever take 5 minutes or less.)

He was trying to prove a point because of someone else's ignorance. Not trying to show that he's cooler than everyone else.

But thanks for quoting the entire message to say one tiny little thing which has nothing to do with the thread.

So it seems there's 4 deleted songs from 7th Mix PS2.

A Minute
It's Raining Men
There You'll Be
More Than I Needed To Know

This is a real shame.
Before, weren't there only 2 songs that had been deleted from the home versions, in all the previous mixes? (Strictly Business from 1st, and Petit Love from 4th)

Konami probably tried to get cheap and save money, since DDR is fading in popularity in Japan. I hope they print enough copies of 7th Mix PS2. They sold out in less than one day from the game store I went to (and was lucky to get the last one!)....

At least there is hope for 2 of the songs to come back in 8th Mix: It's Raining Men and There You'll Be. The other two songs might be gone for good!

Rats, I was really looking forward to playing It's Raining Men....

Didn't Strictly Business make it to 2nd mix home ver.? Plus a bunch of songs that were left out of 3rd (Xanadu and Follow the Sun come to mind) made it into 4th. Hopefully we'll see the same thing happen with Extreme *crosses fingers*.
If not, I really wish they would at least release a "DDR Lost Mix" with Petit Love, all the Korean songs, any song that didn't make it to home versions (maybe even obscure stuff like the ones from Tokimeki).
I liked It's Raining Men, A Minute and There You'll Be....too bad disgust.gif Now will I probably ever play Dynamite Rave? Doubtful.

Since I doubt home DDR versions are going to stop anytime soon, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if any number of the 4 missing songs make it into a future Mix.

"Konami being cheap" is the easy accusation, when in reality, there are usually far more complicated reasons for a missing song. Licensing issues are rarely cut and dry.

Like any game, there are always going to be things that could be better. Here's my list of minor quibbles, most of them oni-related, since that's my favorite part:

a) No edit steps in oni course creation. Oni course creation is something I've been wanting for awhile on a home version, so I'm ecstatic that it's here. However, I was SOOO looking forward to making an 'edit road' oni course. I'm not quite sure of the reason why they wouldn't allow it either. The only thing I can think of is that maybe it would have to access the memory card to pull out the edit steps before each song, creating delays between songs? I've only made one edit so far, so I don't know how accessing multiple edit sets in a row works yet in arcade mode. Honestly though, I'd have gladly lived with a small 'loading' delay...

b) Now that we've got oni course creation, why not have high score boards for those courses? IIDX has done this, and it works well. You can even give a name to your course. It would have been nice to have this feature as well.

c) The random oni course has... issues. Definitely a great idea to include random oni (with random mods too!). However, did they really have to include EVERY mod? Stealth? 8x? An option to turn off certain mods would have been nice.

d) The 3 high score boards that cycle through on the attract screen are too easy! They could have at least made ONE of the 3 moderately difficult. I'm certainly no 'perfect attack master'.... yet I scored a 99.5% on the 'More Light' course on my first try. Only 7 greats! That board will be full of 100% scores in no time (especially once my friends start coming over in the next few weeks). Also, I can SOMEWHAT understand not putting every single scoreboard on the arcade version... since the attract screen would then take forever to cycle through. But at home, this really isn't an issue. They should have had full, name ranking, high score boards for every course.

e) There's a strange bug in the arcade mode, where when you cycle through different sections of songs, your song grades keep appearing and disappearing. It's a bit difficult to explain, but it's just a cosmetic bug. Seems like it would have been obvious to play test and eliminate it...

f) It would have been nice to have light and standard steps for the oni remixes. Novices should have access to easier versions of these songs (although most aren't terribly difficult). This complaint is about as minor as I can give though, since the extremely user-friendly edit mode makes it possible to create quick, easy steps for any song.

Aside from these admittedly minor issues, this game is a gem. A huge number of songs which have never been on a DDR home version before, a large number well put-together oni courses in a wide variety of difficulties, user-friendly edits, customizable oni courses (with mods too!)... I'm having a lot of fun with this Mix.

EDIT: one more thing... they shouldn't have used the names Nearly=130 and Midnight Blue if they were going to change the course. At least make it Nearly=130' (dash) or Midnight Blue* or something. This is just a pet peeve since the courses aren't exactly like their arcade counterparts.

I agree on almost everything, Bean, but I can explain one thing...

That's actually not a bug. When you switch from a song with L/S/H steps to one with just challenge steps, it has to adjust the difficulty to Challenge, and thus changes the score display to Challenge grades - which then makes the L/S/H scores disappear.

I think Extreme does the same thing when you have a memory card.

Strictly Business was in DDR 1st Mix Psx...but I heard that song was SUPPOSE to be in 2nd Mix Dreamcast as well. If you browse the disc, the wav file for Strictly Business is still there for some odd reason..

On another note, I THINK I found a bug, but someone replied back to me on another board about that and I want to see if anybody agrees here. I played Ecstasy (midnight blue mix) and AAed it but when I got back to the Music Select screen, it shows up as an A. The result screen even said AA. Now that other person told me that it was like the AM version of MAX2 where it will give you an AA based on your score. Is this true..??

i was wondering, do you have to unlock endless mode? or is that the same as the create an oni course? i've looked around on max2, and haven't found it, but i still have 7 or 8 things left to unlock...

(sorry if this has already been said, i tried to look through this topic fairly thoroughly)...

Yes, you have to unlock Endless Mode.
No, it's not the same as Create An Oni.

It's unlock #30. So keep on going.
