Ichijyouji-- you kinda made me go back and look at some of my favorite manga to see what they do on the first 10 pages... and I noticed some interesting things. But you're right, not many make sense after so short a time-- I should've waited before I told anyone about this
9feet-- ha ha, thanks! I was kinda expecting to get flamed again because I'm kinda gross and sweaty in that pict (and yes, it's a homepad! I can't score like that in the arcade... not YET) You made me smile ... but I'm probably not near you because I'm nowhere near my mom-- o_o! (btw, if you can, send me a pic... I wanna add you to my sketchbook, ne? that's is only if you want)
dj_dustbuster-- hey, for some reason DDRfreak is having trouble and won't let me reply to PMs right now... I've gotta go, so I'll just say the answer is yes, totally! (i think Kel got my message before the server went down) And you can email me if you like, either way is good for me
Resident Lune-- I sketched you out but the picts you sent are gone... o_o! I think I might've made your hair too long... can you send me another? o'negai shimasu!

Hey cool, didn't know there was a thread here. So it's time for bumpage, and the most important thing: the impatient waiting for the rest of chapter one!
The tournament needs to get going so I can see some more drawings of kawaii little manga Maiz |

Wahoo! I put up the new pages for this week... but I used a slightly different technique for painting it this time so they look a lot different than the first sections. I wonder which is better...
Maizie-- Hey there! Yep, there's a thread about it a few places now but I'm kinda embarrassed! I didn't think a lot of people would see the site before the first chapter was done ... but Manga Maizie's the cute little angel of death at 10K, holding the power of judgement (hee hee...) The Legend of Maxx are getting their own stat page soon (and Team Wang and LoveMagic Remix too-- I feel kinda bad that so far only two teams are up)
Ichijyouji-- you won't believe this but I have your sketch sitting on my table right now because last night I couldn't find my digivice! (and I couldn't remember it well enough to draw so there's a little blank space on your sketch, ha ha! I wanted to post those with the update but I think it's in storage back in Japan. Now that I'm online I'll find a pic and finish that sketch later this weekend. )
Freak-- thanks a lot , although somehow it seems bad to be saying "Thanks, freak!"
And I just want to say that even though I didn't think lots of people would see it yet, I'm really glad they commented. Even folks like EMUpirate and Robotcop because (though they said it in a terribly rude way) I think I have a lot to learn and improve by the time this is done, ne
here's the site, let me if there are any problems, ne?

Weow. I couldn't access this comic before, but now that I'm just about to start my own DDR comic, well, dude. Totally blows my comic out of the water.
I guess I'm the opposite of this EMUbuttpirate in that I think the comic is GOOD, yet I AM actually making a comic about DDR anyway. I'll make a new post about it once it actually starts, but in the meantime, here's the design/first comic:
http://www.jeffreyatw.com/ld
Don't laugh. Please. I am not trying to say this comic on any level close to the younger makoto's.
I like how your comic pretty much jumps into the action by showing off two amazingly talented DDR players, but because of this, a lot of people might be thrown off, have no idea at ALL of what is going on, and just stop reading. Terms like "Extra Stage" and "sextuple A" (uh, I take it that this is counting 2 songs in a row) are just a bit too much for the average reader - and this is so well done that you could make it appealing to a larger audience if you explained things a bit more, in one way or another.
My comic will be totally different, in that:
1) Style will be more gag-strip oriented
2) Drawing is exaggerated American style, not akin to any manga
3) Comic is drawn in Flash
4) Drawn by two different people, and updated every other day
Since it will be so different, there's no real need for comparison as to what is better, but still, I applaud you. I'd say you're much more qualified by FAR, but that's just because we're on different levels. Design in general is more my forte anyway, not drawing.
Once again, great job, and I can't wait to see how your comic plays out. _________________

Wheee for updates!
I admit, I wish I could see more of the action involving the DDR itself, though I can understand if it is hard to do things such as that, unsure of how to draw out two people playing each other. It's interesting to read and see the other characters chatter on about Dynamite and Pict playing each other and saying who is better, nontheless. Remember, just because it can't be moving around on the paper doesn't mean it can't be exciting to see close ups of the players as they compete.
And hopefully my own picture is coming along, too! I got your LJ entry comments, and all. And saw your update comments, so I'll just hope for sometime next week. Hope for it, of course. No pressure, eh? _________________

That's awesome ! Ha Ha ha... I love that animation you did! Let's Dancing rules!
Your comic is much more like a webcomic SHOULD be, because if it's just funny, you can update it and people aren't saying "huh?" if they missed a week or so (that's my weakpoint... it's not really funny, it's just a story and the story flow is kinda disrupted because I can't post it all at once-- that makes me crazy cause I wish everyone could see it but I'm just not that good yet...)
I'd love to link to your site, is that okay with you ?
resident lune-- you know, I agree TOTALLY about the action. I should draw more people actually playing the game-- but so far I've just been making enough to introduce them (and to fit all their dialogue on the pages, na?)
That's a good idea... I'll work more action shots into the next update-- I also need more reference, so my friends and I are gonna hit some machines so I can sketch them out soon (heh heh... and that pic for you will be up later tonight or tomorrow)
Also if anybody else has comics or sites that want to exchange links let me know! I've met lots of cool people around here but many don't have websites of their own stuff yet. Networking is good... _________________

Well, what do you mean by reference, anyway? If you mean watching players and see how they play, I'd be happy to help give a few examples of players who I've seen. Living in New Jersey for home and in Missouri for college, I see two entirely different methods of playing DDR, in style as well as habits.
Though I'm just throwing out some help. You probably have more than enough help and hands-on experience yourself, anyway. _________________

Very nice. And I like the style of the pictures. The only problem I have so far is on page 11, and it's a tricky one to fix: Pict and Dyna both look like they're standing still. I'm not sure how you'd get them to look more "dynamic", but it's something I think you need to work on, since DDR is meant to be a really active game. Maybe take some photos of people in mid-jump to study?
Otherwise, seriously cool comic, looking forward to the next instalment. _________________
