Yeah, I got it figured out, but maybe you should add a little section your FAQ pointing to that thread or something? Just a suggestion.

ok, i finally got 3rd mix and said to myself, hey, why not try the bonus disc that came with the AR2V2. It booted and 2 screens with japanese writing came up and then one with a circle and a cross through it with writing i couldnt see. I thought it was gonna boot but now I gotta find something else to boot it with. Would a gameshark for a PSX work? because I know that the bonus disc that comes with GS doesnt allow you to add codes. Eckostyle told me before to put the antimod codes in my GS2 but first of all, the PS2 disc of GS is for PS2 games, and second of all the bonus disck for PSX doesnt allow the adding of codes. I don't feel like patching the thing because ive heard the arrows are out of sync and i dont feel like wasting my time just for that. So, I would just like to know what everyone else with a fliptop uses to boot up PSX games. Or if anyone else has any suggestions, it would be appreciated. THANX E1.gif

Yeah, the anime universe is legitimate. They aren't super speedy, but they are worth your time and money. Don't buy DDR games from them unless you own the originals though...laugh.gif

Does anyone know where I can find a backup of MAX2? Any help would be appreciated...

I don't think any release groups have a put out a version of DDRMax 2. They usually don't get Japanese games released right away.

Since this seems to be the place for descriptions of all the different versions I figured I would ask my question here.

I have looked into both the US and JP versions of DDR Max for PS2, and have seen that there are very few differences. The songlist seems to be different, and the US release has ONI mode.

My Question is this. I don't currently have a Playstation 2. I'm looking into getting one. Mainly for the DDR games. Granted I could just hook up my dance pad to my computer and play stepmania, but I like the mobility of the console system, and being able to go through and unlock everything. There seems to be more of an accomplishment that way. Anyway my question is, which version of max would people buy. I'm looking for opinions of which people like more. The US or the JP version of DDR Max.

I know that DDR Max2 isn't out in the states, so I would also like peoples opinions of DDR Max2 JP edition. Is it worth importing these two games, and modding a playstation or buying an import playstation2. I already have an import psone and 2nd, 2nd append 1, 3rd, 4th, and 5th mixes.

Thanks to anyone who can give me their opinions.

Well, theres two sides to this one.

If you dont mind the lack of an Oni mode, go for DDRMAX. It had an excellent songlist(a good majority of them, bettr and not included in the US release), and is damn fun to play.

DDRMAX2, on the other hand, has an Oni mode, an awesome songlist(including a few songs form DDR Extreme), and everything in between.

If you have the cash, get both. If not, take your pick, because in my view, they both equally impressive and fun.

ok, i know that this has been answered millions of times in millions of different forums, but i cant seem to find it. Does DDR MAX JP have oni mode, and if so what courses? Thanks!

DDRMAX USA features almost zero of the licensed songs from the original Japanese DDRMAX. It compensates for this by adding a few new USA licenses and Beatmania songs, as well as a bunch of Konami Originals that had not been previously playable on USA versions. However, you already have many of those Originals between your 4th and 5th mixes.

My advice to you: go to the Song Lists section and look at the DDRMAX song list. Does it look like you have half of those songs already? And that most of the ones you don't already have are in the Japanese DDRMAX? Then, get the Japanese version instead. The licensed songs within it are mostly all excellent, and have great steps. The Oni courses in the USA version aren't all that great anyway.

Of course, ignore all this if you can buy both. Both versions, along with the recently released DDRMAX2, are all excellent and worth your money. For the record, I play the Japanese version more, but mostly because the songlist of the great USA version is mostly repeated in other Japanese mixes I already owned.

Wow! The same thing is happening to me except I ordered from www.lik-sang.com Supposedly the game would ship in 1 to 2 days... It's been 5 and they aren't responding to my e-mails. So. Frus. Trating! Has anybody ordered the game and actually had good service like you would get from Amazon or RedOctane?! If so, where did you buy? I'm trying to decide what I should do about my issue... wait? Cancel the order? My PS2 is on it's way home from www.psx-tech.com and I kinda wanted the game sometime soon........

Here's a silly question (and one that's at mostly answered by the first page FAQ, I know) ...

How's the rating system on each of the mixes? It sounds like 4th Mix has the ratings seen in Konamix, where they only range from D-AA, so your song chart will be full of either As for full combos, Bs to show you're making progress in a song, or Cs to show you need work.

The problem is, I'm spoiled by the grading system I first played with in DDRMax. Yeah, I know it's not perfect - you get a AA on a song if you full combo it even if you had a million "Greats." But with its wider spread of E-AAA, it's kept me motivated to improve, watching songs change from D, to C, to B, to A, to AA. (And, in a few rare cases, to AAA.)

5th Mix was described as having the grading system "finally irked to perfection." Does this mean it's similar to Max (a letter spread of E-AAA), but without Full Combo being an automatic AA? And what about 3rd Mix, which I guess was the interface the first DDR USA release used?

Okay, so I guess amidst all that random rambling I just wrote I have two questions:

(1) Are DDR 4th Mix / Konamix / Extra Mix the only ones that are limited to a "D-AA" rating system, or are 3rd Mix / Best Mix the same way?

(2) In terms of overall song variety - IE, ones that aren't on the US releases - which mixes are the best to get to avoid ending up with a bunch of near-duplicate song options? (It sounds like 1st and 2nd Mix are a waste of time if you're a newbie, so I figure I'll start with 5th Mix when I start my journey into DDR imports. How redundant would 3rd, 4th, Extra and/or Best be after that?)

Thanks for any help, and sorry if these questions have already been answered a million times in the past...

1. 4th/Konamix/Extra Mix are the only ones limited to the "D-AA" rating system, and 3rd/Best Mix share similar grading systems.

2. The best ones to get are 3rd, 4th, and 5th. They have the most diverse and good-sounding songlists, and are great fun.

Are the games burned? It's a common problem with burned copies.

Credit Goes To Bean for this, he had the code and posted it up, so I figured I'll post it in here, so maybe you can add it so everyone will know the code!

DDR Disney Rave Anti-mod Code:

D019020A 1040
8019020A 1000

Again Credit Goes To Bean, and this does work

Ok, folks, I thought I had decided to buy an old psx with a game enhancer to play my imports (which will be backups, my originals are going to be archived as my cat likes to lick & chew discs, no lie! disturb.gif ). As I understood it, I would start up with a US game, enter codes, then when prompted, swap out & replace with the import/backup (I've never used a gameshark, so forgive me if that's out of order riiight.gif ). Now that I read this, I'm confused. Would a newer psx or ps1 with a modchip work with any DDRs, originals or patched backups? Or would I still need to input codes, thus needing a gameshark? Or would my original idea work fine for new & backups? I've never patched a thing, so I'm not sure how well that'll go, I'd prefer just entering codes, if possible!

If a gameshark will work, does anyone have an opinion on which is the best for imports/backups? I've noticed a bunch of different versions on e-bay & I'm not sure which I should go for!

Thanks for the help...I need it! drool.gif
