|
|
I bought some cheap buttocks soft pads from ebay and within less than a week, the pads were giving me a lot of problems. I modded them, and they will probably give me problems in a week. So I'm interested in not being cheap and buying two metal pads. And I wish I could make my own metal pads, like someone on these boards is doing, but I will probably not be able to make it.
Reading lot of posts about metal pads, it seems that metal pads will breakdown too, except so far for the Cobalt Flux pads.
I need a metal pad that will last for years. Now, if the Cobalt Flux is the best, how long do you guys think it will last? I mean, 300 bucks for each pad is a bit steep, but if it's "better than the arcades" as I read in some forums, it'll be worth it. But I really don't want to waste 300 bucks if the thing will only last for a year or less. For 3oo bucks, even 2 years is too little. It's like I have to just buy the damn arcade machine now =) So any help wiht my question is greatly appreciated. |

Am I the only person who was foolish enough to buy a metal dance pad from Red Octane? |

Is everything in terms of +'s and -'s still the same as before? Or have things changed. I have had the Beat Pat by MadCat with my DDR for a week. Its now extremely sensitive and you need to pound on it. What would you all suggest for a beginner's hard pad? Nothing that breaks too easily, please. I'm a pretty big guy. _________________

The Cobalt Flux's are totally worth it. They are better than the arcade. Their so responsive and look great. The CF company also has great customer service. This pad looks like it will last for a longggggg time. I also play on my computer with DWI and i use the EMS USB 2.0 adapter and it works fine. I've noticed that people who say they have problems with that adapter and it responding to late are Step Mania users. _________________

I just got a Cyphergames pad off eBay.... are there any other mods that will improve it's life and quality besides ps2freak's..... Nothing against yours, I just don't really understand what to do and don't know if I have that kind of materials available. |

I haven't ordered yet, but it looks like the CF pads are the way to go. you gotta have luck in how your pads are shipped too, thats a huge factor ... those who have ordered mmybox/CG, do you think they will break? Cuz i can order metal pads right now, but this is like the only chance i got... Im sure a bunch of other guys are in a situation like this.. |
ROGER!!! im in same situation and i will only be able to get mats once or maybe twice but in a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG time so please HELP US |

Do any of you guys have the RedOctane metal pads? If so how do they compare to the CG and MMB pads? |

To 24-7dDrALLtHeWaY=vEteRaN=, I've been doing reseach and, according to a lot of other people's posts, CF is the best. Soft pads, I think are a waste. And all other metal pads break down eventually. With CF, they are made so well with such good material that it should last. If you go to www.cobaltflux.com/, go to media and watch some of their videos. There's a guy there who got a perfect combo on some crazy song and he looked pretty big and he was slamming the pads down hard with no problems. Also, the customer service CF offers seems to be awesome, so if you have enough cash... you should go for the CF. Any other pads would be a disapointment. |

I just ordered the new CG pad Version 2 which is supposed to be made out of one piece of metal and is thicker than the previous version. I was wondering if anyone else has seen the version 2. I have been yet to even find a picture of the actual pad so its just a guess on what i will recieve. When I get it I will post a review on the pad. |

I feel as though I am eating my own words, but I feel compelled to tell what I have learned. One of my friends recently bought a Cobalt Flux, so I got to try it out. I was really quite UNimpressed. I mean, it felt like it was well built, but the responsiveness was no better than my MyMyBox metal pads, and I couldn't tell where my feet were. Because the surface is completely flat, it was like playing on a soft pad with better response. I mean, I know the MyMyBox metal pads are prone to certain problems, but I am now convinced that it is the closest to the arcade feel, and the response is really quite good (but they do have to be modded and taken care of). I'm just glad I had the chance to try it before I bought it. _________________

But What about durability? I personally don't have much problems knowing where my feet are on the pad, since I have only played DDR on soft pads (I'm too embarrassed to play in the arcades). But II read that those MYMY whatevers breakdown after months... so I'm not sure. I have never played on a hard surface, so I guess it's your word over mine. But in time, maybe your opinion will change when the CF outlasts your platforms, if they do. |

Cirrsplat,
You are correct when you say about the durability, as one of my MyMyBox pads has been dead for about a month now, but in all truth, once you get used to being able to feel exactly where your feet are on the arrows, it takes some doing to go back. Like I said, just consider what you want, and if you're ok with the soft pad feel, shell out the money for the CF. Good luck. _________________

I still just am not understanding what you're doing on the mod page, ps2freak..... Putting foam underneath each arrow? Do you put anything on the bottom of the pad to 'connect' it to the plywood. *Is confused* Sorry.... |

eh.. wells thats one bad opion of the CF, i think the first i've seen...
I'm reading a bunch of people say they've got dead metal pads, and that, i think, is really saying something... i mean thers tons of people complaining about mymybox and CG, and that is what we call wasted money.
AS for CF, if youve seen the forums, those guys are totally in for you. So.. Im just gona wait for a while until i decide. Im really thinking CF, but if any of you metal pad users really have some important insight, you gotta tell us.

The CF pads do really look good and if the website for CF is telling the truth, it is really worth it to pay $300. I mean if u can run over it with an SUV and it still works, thats pretty good. Or maybe they're lying......... otherwise i agree with ddR*aLaN* |
