so let me get this straight........ you can play imports just by ripping them onto your hard drive and patching them, then burning them back onto a CD?
will this work if i say, patch the 5th mix and try to play it on meh PS2? |

No, you can only do that if your PSX/PS2 is modded to play backups. Patches just get by copy protection and PAL/US conflicts in hertz. _________________

Since no one else has done it yet, i suppose i'm as qualified as the next person, here's my review of:
DDR Konamix
Songlist
The loveable bastard child of 4th mix and Konami Music, DDR Konamix is a compilation of some of the best music from the DDR series. Including only songs that were created by the Konami/Bemani staff, Konamix employs the 4th mix interface, which looks just fine (though i'd rather it used 5th.) Definitely the best, bar none, DDR for people with a US psx and dont want to mod. In comparison with DDR USA, this is solid gold.
Pro:
Includes a lot of less common music
Nice interface
Challenging songs
Con:
Missing some of the DDR favorites (ie. Stomp to my beat, et all) _________________

Ecko, i agree, piracy throughly damages the companies that make games, and is not acceptable.
But, if you think about it, isn't getting swapdisks and modchips practically the same? you are using something to get around copyright protection laws, spending 10-20 bucks instead of the 30+ to import a console? not that i'm against modchips and the like (acutally I just finished soldering in my own modchip I think that it's a shame that such a small percentage of games released overseas make their way to the US.
People are faced with a choice, either they pay incredible prices to buy a legit copy of a game that was not released here, or 3 dollars plus shipping. For people who dont believe that piracy is immoral, and are short on cash, it makes perfect sense to buy a pirated copy, however illegal it may be.
Just my two cents. _________________

OK wait, im confused. I ordered an original of 3rd mix, do I have to still burn it w/ a patch or antimod code it or something? I have the flip-top thing and am using GS2 with my PS2. Will it work if I regularly use the GS disc and swap the original game? or do I have to do something else? PLEASE HELP!!! |

If you are using a GS2 with a fliptop, just add the antimod codes posted on the first page to the GS2 and boot the game up with them on. _________________

I hope this hasn't been answered anywhere else yet - I've looked around a bit, and couldn't find anything.
I've got DDR 2nd remix for the PSX, as well as the append discs 1 and 2. I have a modded PSX (don't know which mod chip), and I used to be able to play the discs with the Gameshark I had (one with the mem card, no hardware). I lost the Gameshark mem card, however, and haven't been able to find it, so I saw the PSX Action Replay at Best Buy the other day. Since it claims to be 100% compatible with GS codes, I figured it'd be no problem to get it working. No luck. I've tried a couple codes I've found online to boot up 2nd remix (the one on this site, and one where two of the 0's are replaced by D's) and neither works. Both end up at the "you're in the wrong region" screen.
Any suggestions that wouldn't involve shelling out more dough to get this game working?
Sorry for the trouble.

Your best bet would be patching the games with antimod patches. AR's, from my experience, are full of shit. Go get your money back.
If there arent any for 2nd Mix and its appends at the site I posted on the first page, PM me and ill do some digging. _________________

Ok ummmm........ Isn't the bonus disc that comes with the GS2 the one you are supposed to swap with? Because that one you can't add codes to it. I also got the new AR2V2 and am going to see if that works. Otherwise if it doesnt can I use a PSX based GS for my PS2? Or can I still put a patch on it without using the anti-mod codes? Im justgetting new to this and all help is very much appreciated!! |

Hrm. No deal. Patches for DDR, 3rd, 4th, etc., but almost everywhere seems to have nothing to say about the 2nd mix. Bleah.
Thing is, the Gameshark I used to have worked great - no trouble at all. The AR, which is supposed to be compatible with GS codes, doesn't work at all. What a pile of garbage.

I've been trying to get my copy of 5th mix to work, but I can't get anywhere.
The disc swap method doesnt work, and I can't seem to get the anti-mod codes working...maybe my GS is too old? I have an old GS Pro 3.0 that goes in the I/O port in the back. Maybe I'm just putting them in wrong? Or do I have to have a modchip to use those?
I'm really confused...your little FAQ doesn't really address how to get the games working... |

I don't know about how it all works with the swap method, but if you're using the straight gameshark codes, you need a gameshark *and* a modchip.

seppo | Well, that certainly explains why the GS codes don't do anything to help me, as I have no modchip. |

Getting the games to run isint the main aim of this FAQ. Theres already a sticky in the forums that has a discussion on that, called "DDR Import Help". _________________

Just a suggestion. |
