Ck your wires and make sure they are not exposed. Take the arrows that are not working 100% apart and ensure your weather stripping is correctly placed down.

This has happened to me, but now, today infact, My arrows are extremely sensitive.

Good Luck

It should not be a problem, but if you must, scrape.

I finished the first arrow, but I really have to stomp on it for it to register. I put the 1/2 inch gaps in between the weather stripping on the sides, I can't seem to figure it out. E19.gif

any help appreciated

Somebody knows where I can buy (on the net) a Pelican or Gamestop Edge Controller (the same as describe in DDRHP instrcutions)? I've tried the link in the instructions but it's not working. And I couldn't find it anywhere else on the net. I really need this one because it's the only one I know the solder points on the controller...

So where can I find this controller?

Thanks! E1.gif

I don't know if it was ever mentioned before or not, but I got this idea while working on my MAME cabinent.

What about using a I-PAC http://www.ultimarc.com/ipac1.html for inputs into a PC for DWI or Stepmania or whatever.

I'm going to give it a try when I get my cabinent done (this summer sometime). But I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. and you can even hook up 2 pads to one I-PAC.

If someone did this already, lemme know how it works.

I mentioned it a while ago, but it seems nobody did that yet.

I was wondering, did you plan on making lights for the platform? I was thinking about making a cheapo light controller using a microcontroller(I think I have an AT90S1200 lying around somewhere), but I'm not sure whether or not it is necessary. When do the lights on the arrows light up anyway?

Well I had used to Gamestop controllers on my DDRHomepad...and they fried within 2 days...so I got mad and didnt have any money so I just went to my room and grabbed my Sony Non-analog controller. I ripped it open and it was the best thing to solder to. It has little copper points to which you can solder to. But first you have to take a small phillips head screw driver and lightly scrape the copper...not so much that you scrape the copper point off...but juct enough to take off that little layer of stuff sony puts on there...VERY lightly...and then the solder sticks like theres no tommorrow....yeah....anyway....I have built 3 pad so far and I used Sony controllers on all 3...they cost a little more...but hey...its worth it trust me

My left, right and down arrows need to be stomped on, what are some reasons that will fix this?

Remove the wetherstripping in some areas. My ddrhomepad doesn't even have weatherstripping.

I'm not planning on putting lights in it to be honest so i really don't know much about that. When I get my I-PAC I'll post how well it actually works. Someone else mentioned that I should use a ps controller and just use a ps to pc adaptor, but as far as I'm concerned, I'll keep my soft pads for the PS2 and use my metal pads on the PC (since I have like over 900 .dwi's anyhow)

I have now used 6 of the gamestop/pelican controllers on different pads and have not had a single one fail. I even *tried* to make one fail by doing all of the soldering and connecting of pad buttons while the unit was connected to my running pc. I suspect all of the problems are related to static discharge while dancing. I have removed that possibility on my pads by using an entire layer of sheet metal as the ground. It covers the entire 36"x36" pad on my single design. This has the effect of grounding all exposed metal, screws, etc.

Illustration

The ground wire from the controller then attaches to any screw on the pad.

i finally got some cat 5 wire and realized that there are 8 wires but it says they're pair in groups. does this mean i can only use 4 groups and have to use a seperate wire for my ground?

Use 1 wire for each "button" (4 wires total), then connect all of your ground plates with 1 of the other 4 that are left. This will leave you with 3 spare wires so you can connect start and select if you like.

For people using blue beefman/riptide pad idea

I was thinking, instead of screwing the screws into the 2 holes on the top of the bracket, why not just drill a hole in the middle of the bracket. That way you can have a much bigger lip on the plexiglass

what do u think?

Pros:
bigger lip on the plexiglass
easier to take apart/put together
if this idea doesnt work, i can always do the original idea, except i will have holes in the brackets, but that doesnt bother me

Cons:
drilling holes in the brackets is gunna suck (but oh well)
will that 1 screw be enough to withstand the jumping?
