HOLY SHIT those look nice!
They actually look a bit like the MYMYBox Ignition 2.5 pads, though there may be internal differences. One thing that's apparent: they went to black foam... I dunno, anyone brave enough to buy one?
edit: I did a little more looking around for this pad. Cypher Games is selling it for $40, and it can be found on ebay for $25. So far, there doesn't seem to be any deals with 2 pads or a bundle. However the person selling these on ebay, plegend2001, has a VERY high rating (15178 with 97.8% positive), so it might be worth a shot. |
I just bought one of these from that eBay seller, but I haven't received it yet. I was wondering if it would need any mods and if so, which ones are best for it? |
If it does indeed come with the newer black foam, and has the PS2 style plugs, no mods should be needed. |

I got a CG ignition 1.0 pad in mid October. My dad bought another one in November. The november one just stopped working completely (yet it still lights up!) just recently in this week. My other, older pad is getting the right button stuck.
I went to CG website, and noticed they are selling the ignition 2.0 now. They are selling 2 pads for $69.99. I wonder if I should just get the 1.0 for $49.99, or spend the extra $20 on the 2.0?
There is one thing though: in around january I replaced the pad insert with wood (I cut up some wood the same size as the soft insert). The pads started working perfectly after that change, and there was no more ripping of the pads, either (so they were ripped up before the wood). Also, the older pad WAS having problems with the button getting stuck until I replaced it with wood. Is replacing the pad insert with wood a good idea, or maybe it should just be underneath?
LASTLY.... IF I do get 2.0, and replace the insert with wood, are they still worth the extra $20, or shall I save that money, and go with 1.0? the pads did last 5 1/2 months, I'm not sure if that is a good time span for pads worth $25.... _________________

I decided since my RedOctane Ignition 2.0 was having mass response trouble (I have had it a long time) I would try to mod it so it works better. I took it apart, but am not sure how to connect the plasitc sheets to the green board. Does anyone know how they should be connected??

Pic 2.
Shows the top of the pad with the other piece of plastic connectors with this black strip that comes out. Not sure how this plays in it, but it has to somehow I think.

Another shot of pic 2 with the pad bent halfway so you could get a better view.

Anyone know how this all should be connected??

I'm pretty sure they're the same. I've heard nothing but praises lately about the BNS pad.
What I'm wondering though is how the CG Ignition 2.0 stacks up. I've heard of at least one person ordering some, and I'm anxious for a review. |

I've had my Ignition 2.0 pads since November and unfortunately one of them has a few tears in it. It's strange because my other one doesn't have any and I use them both equally.
My question is, should I duct tape it to prevent further tears or is there another solution that is better? Anyone know? I don't wanna play on the ripped one until I know because the tears are only getting worse. |

well, apparently the customer service at www.cyphergames.com is HORRIBLE! They have 1 email you can get a hold of them with, and they NEVER reply. I believe my dad got a reply from them once... like 2 weeks after he sent an email, and they answered with a few words which didn't mean anything. They don't have a phone number or anything to contact them. I emailed them about a week and a half ago asking the difference between their ignition 1.0 and 2.0 pads.... Haven't gotten a reply yet.
So, is there some daring soul that is willing to get the 2.0, and review it AND compare it to the 1.0? I really REALLY want to know, cause the difference can be $20, or even 10 months, who knows! _________________

i have one of Ro's 1.0 ignition pads.( if u wana get it, the Pad Cover is a MUST, i cant stress this enough, the pad blows w/out it)
if u do have the cover like i do, the pad is actually quite decent. i can play heavy songs on there, the arrows are very acurate. its a nice pad. just remeber its really thin. if u dont mind..i think its good. but u really should try to go the extra mile and go with the 2.0 imo
and can someone help me more my question dealing with how Redoctane2.0 compares with Bns ultra dx pads plz? |

I own an RO 2.0 and have experienced similar problems with tears along the bottom fold (between the down and left/right arrows; folded for transportation - I suspect folding is what caused the tears). I ignored them for awhile, but they only grew so I just carefully sealed them up with some packing tape. I havent yet transported them much, but they fold just fine and play just as well, so I imagine this is a decent fix. Hope that helps. _________________

That was what I was gonna do if nothing else came to mind. When I mentioned taping the pads to someone, he didn't like the idea for little reasons like "Making the pad look bad" or "Leaving glue on it when you remove it from the pad". Bleh, I just don't want the tears to become the size of my foot. |

Well, as far as making the pad look bad, packing tape isn't bad since it's clear and relatively flat.. as for leaving some glue when you take it off the pad, packing tape doesn't seem to be too glue-y, and I mean, the pad isn't gonna heal or anything, so why take the tape off at all? _________________

Yeah I totally agree with you. Packing tape would do the trick, I think the kid was thinking duct tape. I just hope the tape will be able to stay on for a good amount of time. |

You mean the chair mat mod? Just get a chair mat and trim it to the size of a DX foam insert, then put it in the pad (either on top of the foam insert or by itself). I think that's basically what the chair mat mod is.
As for DX pads, check the first post of this thread for info. |

Well, it took a little time, but I got an explanation of the difference between the cyphergames 1.0 pads, and the 2.0 pads... here is the whole email (I first sent it off April 8th.... got the reply with the answer I wanted April 14th)

>V.2.0 with a thicker dense insert and has 8 arrows.
(end of email)
So there you have it. Basically, the only difference is that the black insert is thicker (supposedly) and more dense. AND that there are 8 arrows instead of 4 (which I wonder if that makes a difference, seeing that those are locations of buttons anyways). Excellent cyphergames customer service huh? A full, business-like answer would of been nice, but oh well. Guess I can't ask for too much if I want pricing.
With that "brilliant" explanation of the difference, I believe I'll save the money and buy the version 1.0 pads. I take out the pad insert, and replace it with wood anyways. Again, if someone else have bought these pads, and have noticed a difference, PLEASE post it here! Like if the pads feel different, or more durable or something. I doubt I'm going to get much more service or questions answered from cyphergames.... So, just need a willing soul to buy the pads and compare em! _________________

Not only can they give a decent explanation, their grammar sucks.
">V.2.0 with a thicker dense insert and has 8 arrows."
