Okay... I don't know if it is just me, but when I pass a song, I have a little thing about me.
You see: if I can pass a song, but there is a certain part in the song that I can't do with a passing grade, I feel as if I didn't really pass the song.
Does anyone else do this? |

I totally agree with you man. I have cleared many songs, but certain songs REALLY doggy me at certain parts and I would recover later, so then essentially I clear the song, but I don't feel like I really 'cleared' it. What is my cure to this? I started playing on Hard mode. When I did that with songs like Frozen Ray [L7], I failed right at that middle part and laughed at my suckiness. Of course, this has all changed now and I can do that part much better, but it poses as a good example to what your talking about.
So if I can't clear it on hard mode, I don't think I can officially clear it. My biggest problem of IIDX so far is holding a solid bar in an Expert course, and then getting to a song I can't quite do, and losing ALL of my bar on that one song after owning the first three or four songs. I hate that more than anything.... _________________

Once you get their end parts down, V and Summer Vacation [L7] really aren't that hard. |

Not to that extent, but if I get below 50%, I don't feel like I accomplished anything, or if I pass with an 80% or 82%. But for some reason, if I get 78%, I sometimes say I beat it... *shrug* |

I do that too. If I've already passed the song, but I mess up the end, I'll just say that it was close enough.
On the other hand, I need to pass something consistantly for me to feel like I beat it. Like Outer Limits and Voltage, I've passed them once or twice, but for the most part I can't even come close. I feel like the times I passed it was luck. _________________

this is going to sound like a REALLY stupid n00b question, but I was having problems last night and couldn't figure it out (plus, i am an iidx n00b)... where are you supposed to hit the bars? when they're in the red zone, correct? It seemed like I was only sometimes getting Just Greats, but mostly getting Greats and I was playing some really easy songs last night to try and figure out what was going on, but maybe I'm just wrong in thinking that? Not reading japanese, the book isn't any help
again, sorry for asking such a dumb question but my JG percentage is always in the toilet so i wanted to confirm where exactly im supposed to be aiming for. |

I want to say hit the notes just as the notes hit the red bar at the bottom, but I don't really follow that as much as I sync myself with the beat of the song. I have been averaging 55%~75% JGs on songs now that I have started going with the beat, but I know that hitting it when it gets to the bar is the most accurate time. I have been playing on Normal play a lot more recently, and it's hard to just go by the bar because you think that the notes are going to hit sooner than they actually do. _________________

Technically yes, you should hit the notes when they line up with the bar at the bottom, but if you approach it that way it probably won't work too well. It's better if you can see the notes and just be able to hear where they should be.. kind of hard (for me) to explain, but I usually don't pay much attention to the bar at the bottom. _________________

Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions for getting rid of stickey keys. My controller is now like new, and I'm doing better than ever. |

I was just wondering if anyone saw this screenshot from the GBA game Wario Ware: MEGA Microgame$.
Familiar, eh? Legally distinct I'm sure, but you can't deny the layout is spot on 5-Key Beatmania. |

|

I've played VJ Army several times a few minutes ago, and in one go, my score was 158,000-something. Looking at this, I thought I'd go for an A. But as I attempt it more, my score worsens, I go from 158K to 154K -> 152K -> 148K -> 147K. And my hands don't feel 1/4 tired. My main problems are:
- Drumrolls (a la V [L7])
- Weird-timing notes (a la Blueberry Stream [L7])
- The 1-2-1 1-2-1 1-2-1-type 1/16ths (see: Colors [L7])
So why did my performace degrade with each new play? |

Okay, I'll assume you're referring to 6th Style CS here... in which case, it's 69 songs total. To be specific, though, it's 39 "New Songs", 7 Originals, and 23 songs from previous styles. |

That happens to me, too.
I would guess that it is just the way your brain works or something. Maybe since you just did it you are anticipating the notes too much. _________________

Doesn't 3rd have somewhere around 80 songs? As of now, 3rd is my favorite. Song-wise of course. I'm all about the old-school IIDX songs (m-flo, Monday Micharu, Dr. Bombay...etc.)
But I like 6th and on for their more eye-pleasing interface. 3rd's is just ass-nasty. |
