actually dude, The arrows is like Pump w/o the center button and hand and arm sensors like the ddr arrows. Everytime I go to Cyberzone I would play it. I believe it's the only place in cali that has it. I can be wrong.

Gah! I've gotta stop being so vague! When I actually think about it more, I probably meant breaking. _________________

Once I ran out of the arcade during the pause in Matsuri Japan Standard-Little, crossed the street, came back and still hit the arrows in time. Now that was fun...except it's old news, and not freestyle, but eh well.
To try to stay on the thread topic here...is the shimmy a pretty much dead freestyle move? _________________

Standard Little.
I work with a lot of gaps.
JaneJana Standard Little (almost the whole song is gone)
Sync Challenge Little (two sections)
Burnin' the Floor (momo mix)Standard/Heavy Little (if you turn off the freeze there is another)
Drifting Away Standard Little (in the beginning there are only 6 arrows or so)
I feel Standard Little (the middle) _________________

anyone know were I can download some FS videos. I just recently started to attempt FS so i'm a total beginner at it. For now I want to see some people FS and possibly copy some of their moves. Now I know about the whole be "creative," but hey I just want to learn first then create my own steps. Thanks and sorry if this has been posted before.

I dont know about those videos, but if you wanna start making routines a great song (my first FS song) is the original Dynamite Rave. Yeah, everyone knows it, and it gets boring to watch, but its alota fun, and is set up perfectly for pretty much every Freestyle move there is. Practice knee drops and wheels at home and you should be able to work pretty good in the arcade. Just try not to fall too hard on your knees. It can be really rough. _________________

I know this is completely out of the blue.... but I am just beginning freestyle, and I'm learning Let the Beat Hit 'Em <Classic R&B> for my first song to freestyle. But I'm a little lost... I watch videos and try to emulate, but it doesnt come out looking good. Will it get better with time, or is there some trick I need to know. I just can't get my arms to stop flailing . Well, I don't know the song as well as I could, but I just wish I could tighten up all my move sto look smoother... any suggestions? |

Hi there.
Here's my situation:
A month or two ago, I decided that it would be fun to really get into DDR. But, to my dismay, I found out that they tore down the local DDR machine about a week earlier. But I wouldn't let that stop me, so I ordered some home pads and waited. And waited. And just when I was starting to get worried, they finally came, and I rushed off and bought a copy of DDRMax. Coincidentially, this was the same time that my brother was back home from college on spring break, and (of course never having played before) preceded to kick my butt the rest of the week. This frustrated me quite a bit, and I vowed to shock him with some wicked moves when he comes back this summer.
I have been playing for almost a month now, and I'm trying to ween myself off of light level.
So, in short, I'm looking for some impresive little moves that I can teach myself on a cheapo unmodded soft pad. It seems like most moves mentioned are only possible at the arcade, so I thought I'd ask. =)
Thanks in advance to any who help, any tips are greatly appreciated! I'm eager to learn. |

Spot, if you think your moves are awkward, try practicing them in front of a mirror or with a friend who knows how to freestyle and is willing to help you out. IMHO, slow songs such as "let the beat hit em" are better with slides and slicker moves while flashy moves are better suited to faster beat songs. That's just my opinion tho, up to you to mix and match. Just make sure that if you do make a routine, the moves flow and match with the song and each other.
Mezzian, you could try learning the shimmy but you definitely need to protect the top surface of your soft pad. Shimmying takes a bit of time to get it without your head/shoulders bobbing up and down like a dummy. It is when you slide out with both feet and slide them back in. Try downloading DJ8Ball's exhibition video where he plays 'Groove 2001'. I learned to shimmy watching that video.
The keys are to bend your knees slightly, slide on your toes and always maintain balance. Don't lean too far sideways onto 1 foot or you'll start getting additional friction on that side and throw the slide off. If the pad isn't very slick (coughdirtycough), then you might need to do a very slight jump to start yourself off. The key is to prevent upper body motion in the vertical direction. If you can manage that, you'll look pretty good. GL. _________________

OK, I'll bite. What song, if you remember? |
