I would stick with the redoctane 2.0s. I've had mine for about 8 months, no pad cover, and they're still going great. I used to use them about 2-3 hours per day, 5-6 days per week, but now I use them about 5-10 hours per week.

These are with the harder inserts. I recommend getting one of those over the level six or buy n shop.

Just to make sure I have things straight, a chairmat mod is basically cutting a chairmat to fit in the pad and shoving it in there on top of the foam, right?

I got a new CG today, and it did the same thing. I just stuffed it in and zipped it up and it works fine now.

I'll find where they live, hunt them down, then tie them to a chair upside-down and glue headphones to their ears and make them listen to nothing but Crash and Petite Love for ALL ETERNITY!!!!!!!!!!! laugh.gif

EDIT: BTW, for those who asked, I'll take pictures of my DDR mods probably this weekend.

hey dude

my sister also bought 2 CG pads that broke after using for 2 weeks. Instead of getting redoctane style black inner foam, she got white 0.5 inch inner foam. It is not even hard inner foam. she requrested exchange it and they refused to send me replacement. my sister finally ordered one from redoctane and one from gameclubprice - mymybox brand premium pad. Both of them are identical except for the design of pad. Black inner foam that she received from redoctan is 3 pieces where mymybox come with 6 pieces. once we assembled inner foam, both of them were the same. There were a few different things.

1. price: She bought them for
Redoctane ignition pad : $ 99.95 from www.redoctane.com
MYMYBOX Premium pad: $79.95 www.gameclubprice.com

2. Design:
Redoctane has their name in the center, They had X,O on the top left and right. MYMYBOX has StayCool in the center and Green arrow button on the top left and right. Grey arrow on the bottom left and right.

I will take a picture and put them on the internet soon.

Well, redoctane and mymybox pads are the same I think. CypherGames pads S&%K. Do not buy from CypherGames. If you want to save Money, Time and avoid Big headache, go with Brand name even it is little bit expensive.

I recommend you to go with either RedOctane Ignition pad 2.0 or MYMBOX Premium pad 2.5.

Those of you who want to know where they located.
here it is www.cyphergames.com

oh, I have one mymybox metal pad. I bought it on september 2002. it is still working great except for the red arrow button. it is cracked after 4 months, but I replaced with new one. ^^

When was this? I believe sometime in the middle of last year CG changed their design to distinguish it a little from the RO Ignition. Dunno how much of the inside was changed, but I know the foam insert isn't just 1/2 inch thick.

Either I got a bad MMB with a crappy faom insert or MMB has been changing the inserts they put into their pads with better ones, as the ones I got a while back were soft and not stiff.....

That's weird that your CG Ignitions broke after 2 weeks. I've had mine for about 5 months now and it's still working fine despite about 10 rips in the top of the pad.

Is there somewhere I could find higher quality foam than the kind that comes with the levelsix ignition pads (since that seems to be the main difference between these pads and the redoctane/bns pads)?

One more thing. I have pad covers. Am I supposed to attach these things to the pads somehow to keep them from going all over the place?

Edit: I actually made this post based on earlier posts, before I actually got the pads. The foam seems to be fine. It's pretty dense. Had to cut a bit off the edge for it to fit in the pad, though.

Well, these pads seem to be pretty good. So should I duct tape the RedOctane pad covers to the top or what? E15.gif

Is there an easy way that I can fix my RO Ignition 2.0 so that the "padded" arrows don't sag as much? Since they have actual weight, and form, they do bend, and tend to stick, somewhat, when doing the more extreme songs. I've already chair-matted my pad, which has caused them to not stick for 10 seconds at a time, but they still stick for 1/2-1 second sometimes, which can be just enough to screw you up on some songs.

For a while I was thinking about buying a couple of Cyphergames Ignition
pads, but after reading all of these concerns about their build quality, I've completely given up on them. So I was wondering, does anybody know any good DX pads that will last a long time and are under 50$ (and aren't sold by a pain in the a$$ dealer)? The quality of the foam insert isn't too importantv to me, as I intend to chair-mat mod them.

I would still say that buying two CG DX pads off Ebay for $20 + shipping is the best way to go.

Hello

I am new to these forums (and DDR in general) and am looking for recommendations on an arcade-sized soft pad. I have read good things about the RedOctane arcade-sized pad but they're no longer available. Any other ideas?

TIA

Ok, I think some of you are getting the wrong impression from my posts. The BNS pads are still great pads. I still have one that works, but one of mine is destroyed. It has nothing to do with buynshop, who I would still recommend to anyone looking to buy DDR equipment. I shredded my broken pad, and was unable to fix it. However, I did learn how the pads work. I don't think there is any way to prevent the plastic covering the internal foam from tearing without actually cutting open and, I guess, covering the plastic with duct tape. I wouldn't recommend that. The plastic I think you are reffering to shouldn't tear however, only the cover over that plastic that can be seen on the underneath of the top layer of the pad (the sensor portion)

Does anyone know how long the BNS DX pad (the $25 pad, not the $50 one) will last if I do the plywood mod with a cover? I usually play 8-9 foot songs for about an hour every day of the week. Thanks.

I'm trying to find out if the plywood mod even helps. From common sence, it should work. How long do those DX pads last normally? The plywood mod will probably add 6 months onto its life by the way you play. Maybe by changing the hardwood floor/plastic covering stuff every 3 months, you can add more time onto that.

Only thing u might have to worry about is splinters in the pad.

My CG Ignitions went 3 months unmodded and worked perfectly. Then one of them broke down. No sticky arrows, no phantom steps, it just quit. No response whatsoever, except the lights light up. If my theory about the cord/plug getting messed up is correct, there's nothing any kind of a mod could've done about it. The other pad, however, still works great after 7 months. (this is the "cheapo" ignition with the "crappy" foam BTW)
