Damn that is small! From what I can remember, that's about or more than twice as small as the actual arcade.

My Pop'n controller and Pop'n 7 came in last night, and I am confident in saying this is the most fun I've ever had with a game ever. Ever. The controller is AWESOME, the game is... wonderful... I couldn't have asked for more. I love this game.

EDIT: Weird... I am having almost no trouble with Hyper, on my first day. I can ALMOST pass Des-Reggae Hyper on my first try. Improvement!

Is this the ACS controller or the small one?

It's finally coming??!! About damn time! People be prepared for ASC to Regular controller comparison pics! E4.gif This is gonna be so funny.

iidx-Nick: Did you try Classic 4 Hyper?! I don't think I'll ever be able to do that with the smaller controller. I actually think it'll be easier with the ASC, guess we'll see when SBMU gets his ASC.

Actually, do you have to unlock it? I've only been able to play for about 2 hours, and I only saw Classic 6 and 7. I've been practicing that song from ROBO's Video, and I know I'll fail hardcore. biggrin.gif

Yeah, you gotta unlock it. If you go to Side B and then select Free Training, then you can see how many songs you have left to unlock. There's 6 pages of 16 songs and 1 page of 1 song for a total of 97 songs. 0.o Yeah, I think that's right.

I still have to get off my buttocks and unlock the rest of Pop'n 7's EX songs... I got best hits yesterday and I've already officially owned it to the fullest extent until my ASC comes... which gets me asking... Smbu did you get your controller from rinkya? I ordered mine through himeya when the 3rd preorder was announced and they said mine would be coming in march sometime but I haven't gotten an e-mail from the yet so I was wondering.

Yeah, I bought it from yahoo auctions japan through rinkya. I posted a link to the auction earlier, but here it is again. E15.gif It was a used one, but after shipping and fees and stuff its costing me about $325. biggrin.gif

Oh and i'm guessing this thing is much lighter than the IIDX ASC, because the shipping cost for the Pop'n controller was like over $20 less than cost to ship the IIDX ASC to me(using EMS). Or maybe its because of the different size of the controller?

Pop'n n00b question time: How do you play songs on EX mode? When I select a song in arcade mode I can only put it on normal and hyper. Can someone help me out?

EX is only available as the Extra stage in challenge mode (when you get 125 points) or in free/free training mode.

Ahhhhhhhhh that's what the points are for! SMBU and I were playing around with the different challenge modes but we didn't know what the points meant. So for the points needed for extra stage, is that on the third song you need to score 125 or is it a combination of all three songs you need to make 125?

It's 125 or more points over all three songs.

It's not possible to get 125 in a single game, the best you can do in a single song is 71 with hi-speed + sudden + hidden + all great + Concentare Hyper. (No, I haven't done it. Some psycho player in Japan probably has, though.) Can't play the same song three times in a row though, so if you wanted to get a max challenge score you would have to then pick Ending Theme of Pop'n 6 and... uh... that stupid song with the tacky rat & pencil. That would make the max challenge score in PnM 7 (PS2) 199 points (71+69+69). The later versions probably have even more insane norms and songs, bringing this total up.

Or you can just get it randomly with whatever point total you earn. Doesn't happen often, though.

Believe it or not, I actually got the EX stage with only 90 points the first time I attempted to get it (after reading all the info in this thread). Guess I got lucky! I tried A Love We Never Knew and failed halfway through it. Thx for the info everyone!

the easiest way to get 125 points in a game is

Fissin Col (it's the top one of the 2 seven point options that has a set of kanji inside parentheses)
+
Ojama (Ten point option that is only selectable when something like fissin is selected)

basically what that does is shrink the screen to the middle for the length of your song... It still really easy to read the notes believe it or not. Use it for all 3 songs and then play

Urusei Hyper
Night Out Remix Hyper
Modern 80 Hyper

and it'll give you a total of 125 points each time

My relatives from Japan still haven't sent my controller yet.

I just got Pop'n Music Best Hits today, and =O~. Using a dual shock is the worst thing ever though. >_<
