Does anyone else have this problem? We're on our third DDR pad, it's the soft pad. It seems that we are running through them like water. Well there are 4 of us who play, on eof whom plays all maniac songs. Well we're thinking of getting a new one, but I'm thinking we should get one of the Red OCtance ones. Anyone else have this pad? Are you satisfied with it?

I got my Cyphergames DX pads today and are working great. I was really suprised at the time of shipping, especially living in Colorado. I ordered them monday night, got an email that they shipped Tuesday, and recieved them on Friday. I even had whatever the normal, lowest cost shipping.

i bought a MMB 2.5 last weekend. i can't compare to the red octane, but i think this pad is fantastic. the raised arrows are a godsend; the thicker texture on the arrows (almost like calluses) make it near impossible to mis-step. you'll still want to mount it to plywood, however, otherwise it sags too much on carptet (i don't even bother to duct tape it down, just lie it on top and it won't move too much in a song). can't say about the covers, i haven't seen them but have my doubts as to their effectiveness.

thing is, i paid $70 for one at fry's in sacramento, so buying the bundle individually here would be $180+tax, not including the covers. not that much of a deal

sad your pads wont last too long as the coverings on the arrows will probably start to rip.........but that's just my experience E15.gif

and their insert just doesn't compare to the bns one that i have E4.gif

I am thinking of buying a ddr ignition pad 2.0 from levelsix and I want to do a chair mat mod, becuase I heard it is the best mod for this pad. I would like to know what is the best chair mat to get and where I can get it.

I am thinking of getting the BNS package with the 2 DX-Xtreme Dance Pads w/ the dense inserts for $90. Would I have to do any modding or anything? I'm really lazy and I'd rather not, but if so, what kind of mod would be the most appropriate?

Also, I hear a new soft pad is coming out for DDR Max2 or something. Should I wait for that one instead?

Sorry if these questions have been answered before. I've skimmed through the thread, but this thing is HUGE riiight.gif

I don't know if there is a 'best' chairmat, per say. I went to an OfficeMax nearby and bought a $16 one, cut it to fit on top of the foam insert, and it works fantastically. They had some chairmats up to like $60 in there, but those were literally half an inch thick. That's more than you need--- I'm willing to bet it'd feel pretty painful after a while, as you'd be jumping on a VERY tough sheet of plastic. It'd probably be comperable to jumping on the wooden board on a regular non-Ignition pad mod. happy.gif;;;

Just go to a Staples, Office Depot, Officemax, or something like that nearby and take a look. The $16 one works great for me; it's accurate enough to full combo stuff on Heavy quite frequently. laugh.gif

Hey look, the number 1 reason that indv. posts shouldn't be locked....

Let me repost since I never got a response...

I just recently bought a RedOctane Ignition 2.0 from GameStop, and after a month and some serious problems with GameStop (The first thing they sent me was a MOUSE PAD!!) I got it. It worked great back at the beginning of January when I got it, but now several of the arrows are starting to stick, the left and rights, I've attempted to correct this by playing occasionally without the insert in, and I've put some extra cardboard/foam inside the pad to also try and correct the arrows stick, but playing any difficult song will just make them stick again, because of hard steps.

My question was, would the chairmat mod fix, or mostly fix, the the sticking arrows so that my steps aren't detected? It'd save me a lot of money currently rather than buying a CF pad to replace my current pad.

I don't see why people still buy the Red Octane Ignition 2.0 pad.

Trusted brand name is about it... but also, doesnt BNS have a better dense foam insert? That's what I've heard anyway, has someone tried them both?

I hope you guys aren't too strict on double-posting riiight.gif I'll never do it again after this.

I really want to buy some pads as soon as possible, so it would help greatly to have an answer to my question a few posts back. Here it is again:

The point I was trying to get across is that, for something like this, there's no need to get so specific and only buy a chairmat depending on its exact brand, model number, UPC code, how it's manufacturing date coincides with tide charts, the middle name of the cashier at checkout, and zodiac alignment of it's company president. It's just a piece of plastic. laugh.gif Just go to the store and look. You can get a good look at these chairmats at the store--- you can feel 'em and see if they're dense before you buy them.

But since you requested, here's a link to the kind of mat you're looking for: http://www.officemax.com/max/solutions/product/prodBlock.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&expansionOID=-536891938&prodBlockOID=54602 I'd just go for the cheapest one at a 36x48 size. Cut it with a pair of snips (you can buy these at a Home Depot for 10 bucks) so it'll fit inside the Ignition pad, and you're good to go.

EDIT: You might have to hit 'refresh' a bunch of times for that link. If nothing else, go to officemax.com and look for item #01216883.

You don't have to mod any Ignition pad. Most of these people talking about the chairmat mod are referring to CG Ignitions or other "cheap" Ignitions available off ebay. My CG Ignitions, with the cheap insert no one else seems to like, were fine unmodded. One of them broke down but doin a chairmat mod or whatever wouldn't have helped that. The BNS DX pads with the dense inserts should be even better. From what I hear, the BNS insert is firm enough that a chairmat mod isn't needed.

I skimmed this thread and couldn't find answers to either of these questions, sorry if they've already been answered anyway.

1) Do all the DX pads have 10 buttons (as in, all 4 sides, all 4 diagonals, and start/select)? I'm concerned that they don't have the bottom two diagonal buttons drawn on (since in Max, you use bottom-left to cancel out of song selection). I know it would be easy to have sensors there with no markings, but i figured i'd ask before investing the $$..

2) the $25 DX pad at cyphergames looks tempting, and as far as i can see, equivalent to the other major ones; a, is it generally as good, and b, what is the shipping charge? i can't figure this out for all i try.

Thanx for anyone who suffers to answer me.. if it's convenient for anyone maybe just IM me if you're willing to discuss these pads with me (i do lurk here often but might forget to check...)

Ah, I forgot about dance pad covers. Would you guys recommend those? I already placed my order for just the 2 pads and no covers, is it any major loss?
