Well if there is a rule againt posting "favorite song" threads in this forum, and there are none of them here right now, what do we do? Invade the "favorite/least favorite DDR song(s)" thread? I requested to have it turned into a "favorite/least favorite DDR song(s)" thread but was promptly ignored.
So...what Hi-Speed settings does everyone here usually use? For me, it depends on the speed:
<130BPM: HS4 (except at the arcade, where HS4 doesn't exist)
130-145: HS3
145-210: HS2
210-300 (although the fastest I played was Doigts De Faitma): HS1 |

Under 150: HS4
150 to 180: HS3
190 to 205: HS2
Anything above (250BPM, Erasormotor Maximum, etc): HS1 _________________

<150 HS4
150-180 HS3 (Sometimes HS4 for 150-160)
180-200 HS2
Ect.
I actully beat 250 BPM last night, that's 3 7's down (250 bpm, Buffalo, Route 70's). _________________

Sometimes it depends on the specific song, but generally speaking...
< 180 ~ HS4
180-200 ~ HS3
200-240 ~ HS2
240-300 ~ HS1
Does anyone actually use the Low-Speed modifier (and actually play well with it)...? |

back on hard mode.....i played only on hard for aw hile. but i still can't beat G2, The Safari (of course), V, B4U, and DXY! on hard. the rest i could do. i beat Sync on hard finally....
hard mode is wonderful to get consistancy down. it shows you what songs you can beat normally, that you can like, only do the endings to or osmething. in hard mode you gotta be consistant. which is what i like about it. _________________

I've noticed Agop (from those Tatsujin movies on 6th Style NSC) uses HS3 on every song, even Take It Easy (which is 205BPM).
He is not human. |

I use HS4 for everything up to 200 BPM, and HS3 for everything up to 250 BPM.
You just need to adjust. Kinda like playing an Extra Stage in DDR. At first, it's like "Reverse?! I can't read that! AND 1.5 Speed? KILL ME!" but you get used to it. |

Yep. All it takes is practice to get used to that type of speed. As with anything in IIDX, it all comes down to practice.
Back when I first got 6th Style and unlocked that video, I was like "What the hell! That's not humanly possible!", but now I can handle 200BPM songs on HS3. Practice, practice, practice... it cannot be stressed enough. |

since everyone else is listing them:
HS1- 190-250
HS2- 180-160
HS3- 140-155
HS4- 65- 135
I tried hard mode a couple times. Hard mode can make some songs easier, like if you can full combo it, until the end where you drop to 78%. I tried doing that with Get on Beat becuase I'd always drop like 20% at the end, but I failed really quick becuase I wasn't good enough to get to the end. _________________

ok sweet...finally I know how IIDX grades are given!!
(thanks to Gori on bemanistyle)
so...
EX Score = (# of Just Greats X 2) + (# of Greats)
divide your EX score...out of the total possible EX score
(this will give you a percentage)
AAA = 88.88% & Up
AA = 77.77% & Up
A = 66.66% & Up
B = 55.55% & Up
C = 44.44% & Up
D = 33.33% & Up
E = 22.22% & Up
F = 0% & Up
(it is based out of 9...AAA = 8/9ths....AA = 7/9ths, and so on, i'm not sure if it is rounded)
[so if a song has 500 notes, the total possible EX score is 1,000, and an AAA would have to be 888/889 EX score]
phew...
now how does the normal scoring work? (out of 200k) |

Well, I have the formula written down somewhere, and I wouldn't be surprised if I'm remembering it wrong, but I believe it's like this:
X = Just Greats
Y = Greats
Z = Good
(200,000 / number of notes) x (X + (2/3) Y + (2/15) Z)
I think this is inexact because of how rounding is done to reach 200,000--is the last note worth more? I can't recall how it works, it's been a long time since I worked it out ;-) I'll let you know if I find my notebook.

I use HS4 on everything, but if it is 200BPM or more I tone it down to HS3.
If it is 250BPM then HS2 it is. |

Trance and house. Unfortunately, Dissolve is my least favorite song and is a trance song.
I guess each genre has its crappy songs and its good songs.
I don't get why I hate Dissolve. Maybe it's the video? That distant feeling? Because it has an industrial feel, not that I'm againt that feel or anything.
My least favorite: Bossa lounge.
If you want to post your favorite Bemani songs just post here. |

I get REALLY scared when ym gauge drops below 20% on Hard mode. Having a "FAILED" screen come up instantly instead of the song continuing for a few more seconds and then the screen fading scares the hell out of me. |
