Apparantly it has a DDR-esque mode using the familiar four panel setup, and a Pump-type mode with the five panels, and then a full blown 9-panel mode, which sounds really cool. From what I hear though, it's not all that great. The pad itself is supposdly inferior to both Pump and DDR. Still, the idea of a Pump/DDR hybrid is intriguing, and I'd definately give it a chance if I had one near me. 9-panel Starian would seriously kick buttocks. |
I played Technomotion in Las Veags (The Excalibur). People say it sucks, but I was quite entertained with it. I'm sure after really getting into it, I'd have some gripes about the step patterns. As for the pads, no complaints. They responded just fine, and I wasn't expecting anything less than what I experienced. Music selection is rather low.
The options are 4-way (DDR) 5-way (Pump) and 8-way (no center step) which can be hard as a biotch!! But just because it took me a little getting used to. |

Aw man, no center step?? I was just imagining how cool it'd be to spin around the center step Beethoven Virus style with 8 other panels instead of 4. Is there a doubles mode? With 16 panels, that could get insane.
I wish home pad designers would just just make a pad with all 9 panels ala Technomotion. I don't understand why companies like CobaltFlux havn't done it already. With the current design, all they'd need is the addition of a center button and they'd pretty much double their consumer base. That way Pump and DDR players could both be happy. |

Fowl,
As far as I know, there is no 16 panel double mode, only 8 and 10. There may be more ifo listed at http://www.f2.co.kr/technomotion/
Trick,
The fastest song on Pump is 230BPM and it's an older song called SHe Likes Pizza. I have not seen or heard any others with a faster bpm listing. |

yea, bmp wise it's She like Pizza(what a strange song that is); however, in division mode, Will o the Wisp is all off beat steps, making it closer to 420 bpm. It's a crazy mofo. Turkey March is pretty easy on hard, not that bad on crazy. It was one of my first crazy songs, but i did have someone show me the proper way to do it. One thing i like about thw turns in PUi is that they can have you turn a complete 360, like in Com' back hard. _________________

OMG!! I saw PIU on TV! **Fake gasp** I on Discovery's Perfect Partner just now , The guy was on a date with a girl names Breanna, he took her to an arcade, and it showed them playing PUmp It UP, and they were both doing sucky. It was the 51" PIU DX machine. They were playing a very slow song on normal, and they were doing so-so. @@: _________________

I think there is a character in the Drew Carey show who owns a Pump machine. But they never show the name of the game, just the steps from a side view. It has a 5-way 'X' pattern, so it is definitely Pump. |

Loner on Hard only gets difficult on 3 sections: During the two choruses in the middle, and the very last 25 steps of the song.
During these 3 parts, if you skip every other step (mainly the center step) you will pass with a C, possibly a D. Gradually add more center steps as you get used to where they are. The 2x speed code also helps a little.
I have yet to try that song on Crazy since I have limited access to a Prex or Extra machine.
Hey PMaster (or should I say Starscream?)
How many feet on Heavy/Maniac can you do on DDR? It's interesting to see who can master one game, but slip up a little on the other. I can *barely pass an 8-footer heavy, but sometimes I can get B's on a 9-footer. It all depends on the song. Forget about DDR Double mode, though. That's where I trip over my own feet and fail out almost constatnly, yet I can do level 7's and 8's in Pump Crazy mode! |

I cant speak for everybody, but I can beat almost everything in DDR(damn you MAxx un) and I just started getting good at PUI(or i should say decent). I can Pass level 8 crazy songs. I find the jump from hard to crazy as not that great a challenge.I floundered for the longest trying to go from trick to maniac, but i could already pass Max 300 before i really tried PUI, and that really helped alot. Thyose first couple of days, though, i thought i would never pass the Virus on hard, and never thought i could get it on crazy. Now, i get a little dissapointed if i dont fc the song on crazy _________________

Pump It Up is what got me in to dance games. It's the only dance arcade game that I know of nearby me (It's a PIU Perfect Collection DX with a large screen). The first time I tried it, people laughed at me. A few weeks later I decided to give it another shot. I did better because I then knew about the newbie stepping (stepping on a panel then immediatley off). More practice led to an addiction, I bought DDR and continued to practice on both machines. I can now pass most hard mode songs easily on level 6 and below. It's that Turkey March that's giving me problems now.
What I like about this arcade is that I can show off all the time.
For favorite songs:
1. Beethoven Virus
2. Cordiality / Another A True Heart
3. Disco Bus
4. Fever
5. Turkey March
6. That one 137 bpm song by Clon
I think this music is so much better than DDR, and the backgrounds also put DDR to shame. |

The 137 Clon song is Come to Me, although many people also call it Come Back to Me.
So let's see...
Come to Me by CLON
Come Back to Me by DEUX
Com'Back by SECHSKIES
PLEASE Come Back by SECHSKIES
Yep, I'd say there's a lot to COME BACK to when playing Pump
There are also 2 First Love's, but the Clon version is sometimes called Final Love.
Also, just wanted to throw this in, but if anyone here is hoping to get upgraded to the PREX 2 (Also called Extra+Plus), just beware that you will LOSE these songs: Extravaganza, Space Fantasy, Oh! Rosa, An Interesting View, Naissance, and Final Auditions 1 and 2 (NOT Episode 1), plus a whole lot more like Summer of Love, Disco Bus, and both X-mas songs.
That's a LOT of songs!!! Take out Half Double, Crazy (XX) Double, and Nonstop Remix mode, and you are left wondering "Are these Prex/Extra songs really worth all that removal??"
I don't think it is. I'd much rather have my Premiere 2 machine than the PRex 2. The only thing I like on that version is the ability to switch from Single player to Double mode in the same credit.
By the way, anyone wanting offical info on Prex 2, including the complete song list, click on this: http://www.pumpitup.co.kr/prex/pumpitup.html It's all in Korean, but it has nice pretty pictures and screen shots. |

Man, on second inspection, it doesn't sound like Prex2 is the dream machine I was hoping it would be. Great for a change, yes, but they took out some of my favorte songs. Oh well, I can't expect one machine to have everything. At least there's still XX Double for me to torture myself with. Do you know if they added any songs to XX Double and Half Double mode that weren't available in that mode before? Oh, and on an unrelated note, bon-voyage Arch0wl; it's about time you got banned. If you want to waste space like that, start your own thread, I don't want to see this get locked. |

thats the part I keep failing, at the beginning Im like tearing it up and I have the hearts of all of the people who are watching me. And when they are starting to fall in love with me due to my dancing skills, then it goes into the middle and both top corner and bottom corner steps and Im like poopy. Then I look around and all of the high school freshman chicks who were falling in love with me, walk away and then I get sad bc I looked like a dumass.
But thats the thing with DDR, when we had it here(it was a 3rd mix a looong time ago) I could do every song except dead end on maniac and get A's and B's. And I could do a lot of the SSR(step step revolution) songs also.(But I didnt try them all either)
But now since the nearest machine is a MAX about 60 miles away that I never played before. Im stuck playing the 5th and 3rd mixes I have for my Playstation and I beat all of the songs on both of those with at least a B so my skills on DDR were not godlike, but I had some freestyle skills and I could get a crowd on a certain song.(As Long as it aint Healing Vision, that song hands me my buttocks)
But Ive been playing PIU for about a month now and I could do some hard songs my favs are ferryboat, final audition 2, loner and Beethoven's virus(even though my friend is playing it so much its making me sick) but there are still some steps I dont think ill ever get. Unless I saw someone do them but no one that plays here can do them.
But im going to play the big 3 in cincy on friday(EXTREME, MAX 2 and 5th mix and I heard that they have a PIU also in Newport KY also)
Im going to play DDR for the first time in about 5 months, oooh its gonna be good times anyone from around there want to join? |

Cincy's got Extreme at Eastgate Mall, Pump Prex 2 at Dave and Buster's in Sharonville, and I'm not sure about Max. No need to go all the way to KY for a game of Pump, although D&B can be VERY expensive compared to others.
Hey Fowl, are you talking about Prex 2? If so, there is no XX Double or Half Double modes at all. |
