Does anybody have any suggestions for getting wrinkles out of a new DX pad?
I just received my two levelsix.com DX pads today and they are pretty badly wrinkled. Everything seems to work fine (some buttons aren't as responsive as I'd like, but I'm doing the chair mat mod soon)... |

I'm guessing you got CypherDX pads...good luck on that. I wouldn't know how to get the wrinkles out other than constant use [perhaps the wrinkles will just go away on their own...]
Anyone know if you can fit a RedOctane 2.0 foam insert inside a GamesDepot Ignition? The GamesDepot Ignition's foam isn't very thick, but it extends right past the edges and it's kinda annoying [esp. when you try to bring it somewhere else], so I'm looking towards replacing it. _________________

Hi, i read that the arrows won't respond after a while when using soft pads without modding. Do the contacts break or what is wrong there? |

He just got them today...
It was likely screwed up during shipment. I dunno what my friend did with the wrinkly pads he got, he's probably still using them =p _________________

Unfortunately, I had one of them break down after 3 months of use: the pad would still light with every step but the game wouldn't respond. Whatever the problem is, I think it has to do with the cord and/or the plug. Additionally, this seems to be a common problem with other dance pads, and more generally, 3rd party controllers, when used with a PS2. This may or may not have to do with the plug, like a lot of other 3rd party controllers, fitting a little too snug into the PS2. This might cause the plug and/or cord to deteriorate, thus causing the breakdown. |
Interestingly, the two new Cyphergames DX pads I got do have new connectors-- real PS2 connectors, visibly different from the old Cypergames DX PS1-style pad connectors, and they fit MUCH better into the PS2. I just thought you guys might be interested in that. The old PS1-style pad connectors were a real pain to plug in and out, they fit very tight and you had to almost wiggle them in and out (not like that you perverts), whereas these new PS2-style connectors are like butter-- sooo easy to plug in and out. Much much more convenient.

I had the same EXACT thing happen, pad looks totally functional (lights up, etc) but just won't register any presses when connected to the PS2. I also tried splicing a new connector and it didn't work at all for me.. I couldn't find a damn thing wrong with the wiring and I took apart the control pod and the connector. Anyway, I don't think this problem is connector related per se..
Good thing soft pads are relatively cheap, eh? |

For about 3 months now, the connector and the wire on my Cyphergames DX have been very loose, but it still holds together. I found it's easier to plug it into the PS or PS2 just far enough to it registers, but so it's not completely in. |

All this talk about the CG cord problems reminded me about the extension cables idea. So far, these pads are still working fine. One pad as a Mad Catz extension cable, and the 2nd pad has a no-name brand extnesion and they both work A-OK. Just thought you'd like to know. |

I found the label for that foam grippy stuff I kept talking about. Believe it or not, the company has it's own website. The actual website for the stuff I used is here, and the corporate site lists it as a non adhesive shelf liner. Right.
Anyway, one roll of this stuff is enough to cover the bottom of one DDR pad, and it's like 5 bucks. I coated the bottom side of the pad with some Westwood brand contact cement (mine was in the paint area, it's a red and black can [the can was $5, and there was enough glue in it to coat the bottom of both pads and then some]) and a cheap paintbrush, then carefully layed down the foam liner and pressed it into the glue. The directions on the can say to give the glue 72 hours to dry, but I actually gave it about five or six hours and it holds great. Your results may differ, though. :lol; |

Alright, I got the buynshop deal of two of those Ultra pads for $50, and they are ALREADY acting up. I didn't really think I'd need the plywood that badly since we have a thin carpet and those pads have some sort of hard thing on all the arrows, so I assumed that would prevent any bunching at the arrows and therefore causing missed steps. Of course I was wrong. The down arrow now in the middle of songs will just not work randomly, but no matter how much I test it while not in the song, it works. So i'm not sure how that works. But anyway, is there anyway to save these pads or am I just going to have to deal with getting several A's when they should be AA's cause my down arrow just won't register? I really don't feel like trying to ship them back and lose that money and getting more pads. Also, It doesn't help that I have friends that believe in the "the harder you stomp, the more accurate you're going to be." Did I mention i've only had these pads a WEEK. Yes, that's correct, one week. Anyway, any advice as to what I should do about this? Thanks for any info. |

^^^^^^^ Also, (adding on so that it will be bumped), it's the SAME exact place EVERY time...so that's what it weird about it to me. I would understand if it were different places, then I would be absolutely sure it was the pad. But I can point out every single time when it's going to act up, cause it does in the same place...grrrrr... |

Do you have the controllers turned off during dance play? If you don't know what I'm talking about, that's probably it. Go to options ->controller settings (or something like that), and turn both controllers off during dance play. This will turn the X, O, [], and /_\ off. If you use these buttons with a regular controller X is down, so if it occurs at the same spot every time, you're probably accidently hitting the X. Hope this helps. |

I just bought a cyphergames $25 dollar ignition pad. Is it a good pad? Does it have a grippy bottom? I am still waiting for it to come in so I just want to know how good it is. Thanx! _________________

you really should do some research before you buy a pad ......
they are good pads, that is after mods such as the chairmat mod(if you want to learn how to do that mod look through this sticky ) |

i didn't say they were "bad" pads i just said you would have to mod the pads a little to get maximum performance and durability out of them....
back to your question.......no, i think those are the only dx style pad they sell. |

I am thinking of getting a new ddr pad, because my intec soft dance pad isn't responsive. I was thinking about getting Red Octane's Ignition Pad 2.0, what do you think of this pad? I usually play 5-8 feet songs. What is the best pad for me? Also, what is a chair mat? |

ummm i fairly recently got a pad for at home and living in australia its hard to get it on psx so i got the psx to usb converter etc etc, all works fine except for the fact I can't hit the left arrow if my foot is on the right arrow but i can hit the right arrow if my foot is on the left arrow and the same with up and down. Does anyone have any idea what the prob might be and how i could go about fixing it? any help would be appreciated. |
