Something I would really like to see for the next DDRMax game would be for the programmers to really utilize the power of the PS2 Hardware and print this next version on a dual-layered DVD [like the upcoming Xenosaga game].
That way, they could give the US market the opportunity to play catch-up with some of the more classic songs from the other mixes and still be able to enjoy whatever new DDRMax2 songs they plan to release. |

first off, KONAMI started the whole mess with the lawsuit. they were the ones that sued andmario in a miraculously idiotic attempt to gain "a monopoly" on the.. um.. dancing games market? second off, DDR is more or less dead in japan. thats why its been canceled.

^ Well, maybe they can continue it in the US. That probably isn't likely, but it'd be cool. _________________

i know we dont need any more freakin' "I want this song" lists, but songs like burning heat, bye bye balloon, the whistle song, and kakumei NEED to be on here.....
oldies like the original afronova and dynamite rave would be very welcome, (and u cant go wrong with jam jam reggae )
but it nakes me angry that konami is backing out of the arcade industry because of their own stupid selfish want for money,
and i hope that the next couple of mixes for arcade and home make somewhat of a lasting impression......... [/u] |

I think a Linkin Park remix would be pretty cool. If Max USA makes more money as more machines come over, Konami may look into putting more money into the US versions and popular US songs. Maybe a Michael Jackson song, he is hugely popular in Japan and is starting to go bankrupt. Also, I have yet to see Max USA in a Wal-Mart. If that happened, it would spread a lot more.

If Konami is really backing completely out of the business... they need to release a MasterCollection DVD of ddr with every song on it. Most loyal players would pay $250 for something like that
I hope Konami doesn't do something stupid like remove songs that appeared from the arcade in their conversion to console.... removing Freckles from the console version.... damn damn stupid considering it's the #1 played song in most arcade machines.
If they want to put some old songs on the machine.... why not put some of that disney rave or disney mix stuff on it.... at least those haven't been plastered on every other mix. Ducking hardcore Mix and some of that other stuff would be pretty popular i'm sure _________________

could someone clear this up for me? im not really understanding this business with the lawsuits n such...after extreme and max2 there are no more DDR games?
well poopy if thats the case then why dont they just put every single song on? i'd be willing to throw down a bit of extra money for a complete collection...and if there wont be any more ddr games, they got nothing to lose either. |

they wont do anything like that until all ddr sales drop significantly _________________

The lawsuits are over, and aren't even in America, they did not have an effect on Konami's business that would have made them stop making DDR, or close the US Arcade Division. There were two different lawsuits, and Konami won one, so...don't see how that would stop them from making DDR.

Or maybe because they thought that Andamiro completely ripped off their idea...which is against the law where they sued Andamiro. In fact, if I were to make a game that was exactly like Zelda except I changed the name to "Zedla" then I would most likely be sued by Nintendo. Konami pretty much had every right to do what they did.

That's why they had a ton of people at the Extreme test location. It's bigger than you think, but not what it used to be. They're finishing it now while it still has somewhat of a following.

I'd say the fact that they're making a US Max2 is proof that they will continue making DDR. They may not make another arcade game, but we can always hope.

I believe Enos said in Information Mode that you can Celebrate your first failure. Should have added "Because you're going to fail a lot you pathetic fuck" XD

That stunned me.
First off, THEY ARE A BUSINESS. If they have any hope of sticking around, they HAVE to make money. Show me a business that isn't money-oriented, and I'll show you a group of people who won't have jobs for long. They closed their arcade division because they were not making any money off of it, and although I'm sure they'd love to keep making arcade games for the smaller amounts of fans, I bet they would rather stay in business with just their Home Game Division in order to bring you games over a longer period of time. If you'd like, I'm sure you could try to convince them to reopen their arcade division and sacrifice their entire company though.

I for one would not, because that is way too much money. I can just deal with not having a couple songs and buy the mixes that are already out. It would cost a lot of money for licensing, and they KNOW that not a lot of people would buy it, so to break even they'd have to charge those who might even more, so you'd be looking at a price much higher than $250, which would most likely scare off the rest of the people who were thinking of buying it, and they'd have a bunch of expensive games that no one wants.

They did it with Max US, why would they not do it with Max2? And why do you want a perfect conversion of the arcade game when you can just buy the Japanese version? "But I can't import!" If you're that "hardcore" then you can. If American versions get their own songs and move in their own direction, then the games will be MUCH better in the end.
Anyways, I think that many of you need to be reminded of one thing:
STATUS OF DDR IN JAPAN != STATUS OF DDR IN AMERICA.
If DDR is dying in Japan, that does not mean that we will no longer have any mixes of it come out in the United States. Extreme was the last arcade mix, and yet they're making Max2 US. Enos has told me before that he would LOVE to bring more Bemani to the United States. But he needs DDR to sell here. Looks like Max US was successful with that because they're bringing out Max2. Don't lose faith, buy the game, and DDR will continue here, better than in Japan. _________________

I think that Konami could do that huge collection for PS2, but i think it should only include Konami original songs, i love all konami originals and i think their the real reason to buy DDR in the first place.
i would also think that konami would have no trouble doing that since they wouldt have to pay for licencings fees and stuff like that...
i dunno, htat's just my opinion |

From his own words:

Basically my title at konami is Product Manager, Action. |
He works for Konami, and is one of the main heads of development for a DDR game.
You'll see him around here as "KOA" when he posts. _________________

Hate to say it, but the inclusion of many of e-rotic's songs would mean an instant M.
Here's the songs, in order ofm ost innocent to least.
1) Cat's Eye. This is a normal eurodance song.
2) Kiss Me. Very minor sexual innuendo. "kiss me all over tonight." WOuld get by if not for the group name (heh)
3) In the heat of the night. Sexy, but nothing really offensive to soccer moms.
4) Test My Best. This one is about sex, but wil go over somepeople's heads. The woman, if you actually pay attentio to the lyrics is saying not only that the guy shodl have sex with her, but tht she particularly enjoys it ("and you'll find out i'm not faking") mention of orgasm=instant M.
5) Gimme Gimmie Gimmie. A bit more obvious then Test My Best. and it's a moan fest at times too. talk about "making iot tonight" clinches it.
6) Temple of Love. Okay, here they start getting more obvious. CLEARLY about sex, though not a single bad word. Still, it will get noticed.
7) Do It All Night. Here is where sensibilities really start getting offended. Parent's do NOT want their daughters singing that.
8) Turn Me On. This seems less likely to piss people off until the rap lyrics start mentioning the g-spot. BIG no-no right here. telling peole facts about sex? instant M.
9) Oh, Nick, Please not so quick. "Baby let's cum together." Need I say more?
Realisticall, tere are three possibilities, and the name alone knocks the group out anyway.
Other stuff.
The game has an ALL NEW LIBRARY, according to the press release. That means... NO REPEATS.
Now, like many other people here, I'd liek nothing more than to see the ratings board lighten up, and the presence of e-rotic songs in US ddr. After all, they've been in the arcades plenty, why not bring em home?
Here's what I want to see.
1) A more advanced lesson mode, going all the way form 1 to at least 6 foot songs. They've go tthe space, certainly.
2) Oni creator. including edit steps.
3) a large number of exclusives. (yeah, we can all dream)
4) A good variety. Beatmania and guitar freaks are very good sources of variety, and they should continue to be used.
5) More DAncemania/Saifam .
6) KOA originals in addition to KOJ ones.
7) 100+ songs.
8) Look at us Now. DUH.
9) SO Deep. DUH.
10)Maxx Unlimited/Kakumei DUH. they've gotta bethere.
11) CHallenge Mode.
and, for the US exclusive liscence department.
12) Heaven. (DJ SAmmy)
13) Be My Lover (La BOuche)
14) Another Night: (The Real McCoy)
15) Tribal Dance. (2 Unlimited)
16) Twilight ZOne. (perhaps the mix from DR?)
17) Get Ready for This. (2 Unlimite,d of ocurse)
18) CAll Me. (Le CLick)
