Well apparently you can get it from anywhere that sells MYMYBox or Red Octane, cuz now I believe more than ever that BNS, MMB, and RO sell the same basic DX/Ignition pad. Either they're under the same umbrella, they import the same pad, or 2 of them are resellers. |

No they aren't. If you look closely, the first has a BNS logo, the second has an unidentifiable logo, and green arrows, and the third has a redoctane logo.
It's true that the pictures all seem to be formatted the same way to show the inside of the pad, but I think there's still reason to believe that there exists a difference in the level of craftsmanship in these 3 similar pads. |
Check the wrinkles in the bottom left corner of each pad and you can tell. |

By looking at the wrinkles, I think that the latter two pics (BNS, RO) are the same... The first pic looked different in the bottom left corner. |

CypherGames sent me the wrong pads. The pads I got look nothing like the DX Ignition pads that I paid for ( http://www.cyphergames.com/50501047b.html ).
I already used one of the pad. I haven't opened the other one. I had to call a 1000 to get through, and they're telling me I have to pay for shipping if I want to send it back to them so they can give me the right ones.
The pads they gave me say GAMEMATE on it, made in china, looks very cheap, and the white foam is so small...
What the Hell should I do? I don't want to ship it back to them if it will take them years for them to fix this problem! I already rated them on Yahoo as horrible customer service because they were. |

Ok i got my dx pad today......its the cypher games dx pad......at first i wasnt sure since it says "game wholesaler accessories"(if u buy pads from ebay this is the brand u probably will get). I checked the cypher games website and thier pad is identical to mine......so is this pad good? to tell u the truth i like my cheapo pads better cuz i modded them some u can actually tell where the arrows are (if u wanna know what i did to identify the arrows then jus reply sayin u wanna know) The DX pads move around when i play and sometimes it screws me up . The pads r really comfy but on 1/16 arrows (arrows where u literally have to twich to press them i.e. cant stop fallin in love ~speed mix~) i tend to mess up really bad . Do these pads need getting used to or something? BTW the circuitry is perfect so i wouldnt say they are broken pads, they work really well. Is there a way i can mod DX pads? I dont like the vinyl like cover it has....is it easier to play with socks on or something? Thanx for ur time |

1. This'll sound weird, but if the pads you have look identical to the ones shown on the Cypher Games website, then they are not the CG pads. The actual design has more of a sleek, shiny look, with corner arrows in place of X and O. Why they have those pics up I don't know.
2. It might be easier in socks, just be careful you don't slip. |

You can get the BNS pad covers for $10 each, and they work pretty well.. they are textured so they add more friction to the pad and a bit more protection for the top. You will need to trim them a bit with scissors so they fit your pad top like a glove-- they stick by "static cling", so it's important that the entire surface is on the plastic (which you should probably clean first to ensure good "cling").. and not poking over the edge anywhere. Not a big deal to do, it's easy to cut, but my covers were not quite the right size when I got them.
I actually prefer the shiny, slick pad surface (I can slide across arrows faster, etc), but my wife likes the extra friction of the pad covers. I've gotten used to it now, but now I get calluses on my toes through my socks much faster than with the regular slick plastic |

Trust me people, they're the same pic. It's easy to spot the wrinkles in the lower left corner for MMB and RO. BNS isn't as obvious cuz the pic is slightly faded, but you can still see in the upper right corner compared to RO. How Cypher Games fits into this whole mess I don't know. They're the only one still using the 1.0 style foam, and the cosmetic design of the pad is a bit different than the other 3, especially noticable at the start and select buttons. But for some reason Cypher Games and all their dealers have had inaccurate pics of their pads for months, and now people have been having lots of problems with them. Bouncing email, poor customer service, and now completely non-responsive.
Conclusion: unless you deal with someone you've learned to trust, stay away from all online dealers. Just buy your soft pads in stores. |

Along with this advice, i'll offer some of my own:
As far as non-DX style pads go (and you can't really plan on finding DX stuff in stores), the Naki DPR2 is probably top notch. You can find it at most GameStops and some other stores for $25. I did a plywood mod to mine (particle board, actually), and it seems perfectly responsive, doesn't miss steps or ghost, and hasn't shown a bit of wear after ~2 months of VERY high usage. I didn't do any sort of cover to the pad.
The pad construction seems the highest quality you can find in a basic soft pad.
If you don't want to mod the pad, it already has grippy stuff on the bottom, which will help it slide less than cheaper pads when hitting 8th notes, etc. _________________

Wait a minute! I am confused! Are the Red Octane Ignition pads ($100) the same as BuyNShop DX-Extreme pads ($50), and the Level Six and Cypher Games deluxe pads which cost only $25?
Does Red Octane offer the highest quality dance pads for the expensive but worth every penny price of $100? Or are they ripping us off for charging $100 for the same pad that you can get at Level 6 and Cypher Games for $25?
Man do I hate ordering online. Mayble I'll just get that Naki DP2R pad I found at Babbages at the Santa Rosa mall. |

In my opinion, all the "deluxe" and "ignition" pads ARE THE SAME. There may be very minor build differences (top surface is more textures, bottom surface is more grippy, foam insert is heavier, etc), but that is all. I am positive all these pads come from the same taiwanese/chinese factories..
It's funny but all the eBay pad sellers seem to be gone. For a while you could get 2 ignition/deluxe pads for $40 including shipping, because there were soo many available on auction! That was a crazy good deal.. |

A ha! They are only slightly different! I knew it! Well I have given the online marketplace of dance pads the finger and have alreadly purchased 2 Naki DP2R dance pads. After studying the soft pad discussion, metal pad discussion, and other threads with related topics I have decided to just go with store bought dance pads. They wear out and they are harder too use than their arcade counterparts but at least you don't have to deal with Ferengi like online dealers that take forever to deliver your stuff or send you the wrong item or even a defective item. |

I got my Level Six DX Pad yesterday. It was a pain to get to work with DWI, but it works like a dream now. Much better than the old Mad Catz pads my sister had... |

Step Mania figures these things out a lot easier than Dance With Intensity. I found that one out the hard way. |

Anyway, it wasn't as much getting it to work with DWI as finding a driver for my PSX-->LPT adapter. |

|

Here's what I did to make my soft pad work a little better. Call it modding if you want, I'm still looking to get a metal pad that I will build, but anyway, here's what I did for now. I got a sign, big enough that it was bigger than the pad and I slid the pad over the top and taped the sides down. Since my mother works for her family at a steel company, I'm having her check on a 1/4 inch steel sheet, so it doesn't bend like the sign does, and can actually support real weight. Seeing as it is sturdy, it will be better than the sign. But anyway, if you have some heavy stuff that will keep the sign flat on your carpet, place it on like the square or the triangle or on the sides. Make sure the weight is even or the arrows won't always work. Figures!!! Hence why I want the steel sheet. Maybe you can get the sheet at Lowes or something, and you won't have to spend several hundred dollars on a metal one. This is also better than wood which can snap. So you can try the sheet or mess around with the sign under the pad. Make sure it's longer on the sides so you can tape the pad to it. Same to the steel sheet. Well, I'm gonna get info from my mom on the sheet and see if I can get it. I'll let you know how I make out. Good luck with my suggestions if you use them. I thought you should know, I thought of this after weeks of struggling with a pad that wasn't working right and I was failing songs I get a B on. Still struggling with Tribal Dance. That's where the idea came from. Trying to pass it on freaking basic. I'm at trick, but I can't pass it on that level. I'm gonna ask for advice on the other forum. Good luck _________________
