You hjavent played DDR to the fullest unless youve heard Cutie Chaser Morning Mix. Now nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can make fun of Let Them Move. _________________
I wonder what songs there are in OHA .
Well, the songlist to OHA is up in the DDR songlist guide of DDRFreak. Finding mp3's to OHA! is gonna be a tough one if you wanna know what the songs sound like. I was lucky enough to find the ones I have! Try looking for OHA SKA!, OHA Mambo! -A Shiny New Today-, and Why?~The Zona Song~-Super Para Para Remix-.(Think of the last song to be the "Paranoia" of the game.) These songs are my favs. _________________

Heh just received a copy of 4th mix with a playstation that I bought. .. it turned out to be a Retail Bootleg copy :-/ I suppose the industry is larger over there, because this is a fully PSX compatible Black CD, but it's laserprinted label and jewelcase insert give it away. Im a little bummed :-/ _________________

This is what PM's are for, Alf.
No, I did'nt block you bro , I just cant use my PC at home, so im limited to the school and public library PC's. THe school has AIM blocked, and some of the library PC's have firewalls.
Now, getting back to the thread, I found a little tidbit with 4th, 5th & Extra Mix. If you have 5th Mix and Extra Mix, go to the options menu in 5th Mix, and go to Memory Options(I think thats what its called). Click on the Extra Mix settings, and save when it prompts you. Volia, you just unlocked every single thing in Extra Mix. The same thing can be done for 4th Mix, but I diddnt try it. Im trying to squeeze all of 4th Mix by defualt, because its so much fun. _________________

I need some help with my PS-X-Change 2. The boot disc says " Utility Diriver" on the front and has a white back. I put in the spring the right way. When I put the boot disc in with the PSX lid open, the PSX disc spins, then it stops and goes to the memory card/cd player screen. It spins and stops again, but this time, a blue screen comes up with a bubble in the corner and says " Please Insert a Playstation CD-ROM". It looks nothing like the black and white screen I've seen a picture of that says " Please Insert Import". I've tried inserting the import and then hitting start, X, O, etc., but nothing happens. If I do it with lid closed, it still goes to the Memory card/cd player screen. You can hear the boot disc spin and stop repeatedly, but nothing happens. I've waited for up to 10 minutes and nothing happens. Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. _________________

I'll fill in the blanks with another DDR game that no one has listed on here.
Pretty much arcade perfect (except for the usual home mix add-ons, like Diet Mode), DDRMAX: Dance Dance Revolution 6th Mix has a bunch of new songs, an interface inspired by 5th Mix, a new freeze arrow, and a new way to show the difficulty of a song. Instead of judging a song by foot levels, it now has a song radar that will show you how hard it is concerning jumps (air), freeze arrows (freeze), 8th/16th notes (chaos), etc.
Pros:
-Freeze arrows add a whole new dimension to the game, making it a lot more fun and challenging.
-If the freeze arrows aren't enough of a challenge, there are harder songs in this mix like Max300, Orion .78 Civilization Mix, and Healing Vision Angelic Mix.
-Even if repeated, the FMV backgrounds are NICE. Excellent touch to an already great looking game.
Cons:
-Lack of extras. Seriously. There's only 5 unlockable songs (only 2 not in the arcade) and 1 unlockable mode (training... hah!).
-The song radar is confusing and this is the ONLY mix that doesn't have foot ratings. Even 7th Mix and DDRMAX US has foot ratings.
-A low number of songs compared to other later mixes like 4th, 5th, and Extra. And a bunch of those are from previous mixes (and most of those have the exact same steps). |

I recently imported a copy of 3rd mix. I use a game hunter external mod chip that plugs into the back of the ps2 and uses disk change method . However, when the game a few seconds after is started, I get a message saying "software terminated. consolke may have been modified. call (number)." sony says later psx games have software to detect mod chips. Is there anything I can do to get by this or any other way to play? Has anyone else had this problem? |

I'm new and I"m trying to get information on new songs for DDR. I've read the posts in this thread, and I find I'm confused about a few things.
It seems that if I want more songs for DDR on my PSX, I have to get one of the Mixes. But these mixes can only be played on a Japanese PSX. So I must mod mine. I am not clear on how this modding is done, or what the best way to mod is. Please forgive me if I've overlooked a FAQ on this subject, but can anyone direct me to it or help me?
The other question concerns the language of the the imported games; is it in English or Japanese? I have the same question about the song vocals.
Thanks a lot! |

I talked about DDRMAX JPN back on page 3. But I guess an extra opinion never hurts. =)

The game text is somewhat split between English and Japanese. If you've ever played a non-USA arcade version, it'll look more or less exactly the same as its home counterpart, which is to say that *most* song titles will be in English, etc. The games are all playable without even the slightest knowledge of Japanese; the game/option menus are in English as well. Most song vocals are in English, since the songs are of European origin as well. The only exceptions would be in Konami Original songs like Dive, Firefly, true..., etc (the Be For U/Kosaka Riyu/etc. songs). |

I've got 4th and 5th Mix at home, and I've never had to use a PSXchange or anything. For $20 and a trip to Wal-mart, you can play pretty much any import you want.
-Go to desired everything store (Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, whatever).
-Buy Gameshark CD for PSX/PSOne
-Go home.
-Insert pen spring into back of PS so it holds the "closed" button down while the lid is open.
-Insert Gameshark disc and power on.
-When the Gameshark frontend loads, choose whatever language you feel like, then choose Start Game, then Start Without Codes.
-When prompted to insert the game, do so and press X.
-Play DDR.
See, once the Gameshark gets to the Language selection menu, the disc stops spinning until you press X on the Insert PS Game screen. All that "Please Wait, Loading..." stuff is just crap. *The pen spring makes the PS think that the lid was never opened, so it doesn't look for a new boot sector, and thus doesn't find that the game is Japanese. The Gameshark doesn't look to see if the PSX/PSOne was opened at all, it just tries to load whatever's in the CD tray when you press X. Thus, the import loads off of the Gameshark's boot sector.
*That whole part was told to me by a friend of mine. Could be true, could be a pile of crap. The fact of the matter is, though, that it works. The only real issue is that you can't do it on a PS2, so I can't exactly play my imports now unless I either mod the PS2 (fat chance) or grab the PSX out of my little brother's room. _________________

The little DDR mix overviews have been really helpful, but I'm still sorta unclear as to which mix is the most complete and best overall of the home versions. Could someone clear this up for me? I'm a DDR newb And if the best version happens to be a PS2 mix, what is the best PS1 mix? Thanks in advance! |

My all around favorites are 3rd and 5th. If you cant stand the old songs like most playters, got for 5th. The interface, presentation, extras, and songlist are just plain kick ass. If you want nostalgia, a huge songlist, tons of extras, some rather challenging songs, and replay in spades, go for 3rd Mix. _________________
