My personal adapter works fine for me (buttons can be pressed two at a time, left and right jumps for example). And I have it on good word that it works for everyone else who has tried it.

It was mail ordered from a UK games company (great because I live in the UK)

It is a parallel adapter, and has 2 playstation ports (which both work).

It is from the website http://www.divineo.co.uk . The Playstation to PC Parallel Adapter can be found here http://www.divineo.co.uk/cgi-bin/div-uk/uk-pcc-ptppa.

I found the best drivers for this adapter (I am running Windows 2000) were here http://www.psxpad.com/index_e.php

I cant say for certain if this driver will work on anything lower than Windows 2000 or XP...

Update: The Super Joybox 3 DOES WORK. Seems you have to hold Select and Start then, while still holding, press the up arrow. This (or some other weird combinations) seems to get the arrows to also register as buttons. I've tried this many times with my pad and my friends pad (same brand though) so unless it's a feature of the pad, the Super Joybox 3 does indeed work.

The EMS2 rules! i use it, and i have windows 98 and stepmania, i've been using it for a month, and its very responsive, as well as letting you plug in two pads into one at once...very convenient =)

and please, look at junta's site http://junta.cromas.net/adapters.html before posting, it's very useful, and will help you decide on which adapter to buy, my opinion only, but i think the EMS2 is the best =)

are there any adapters that actually hook up my playstation system up to my laptop so that I can just use my laptop screen instead of a whole television set?

I found a psx to usb connector at my local radio shack. It works great for most everything.....however it takes a bit of work to get it to work with dwi. E19.gif Anyway thats my two cents, and i think it cost about 15$

Is it me, or do the Kiky Joy converters suck? I have one (it was the first one i could find) and it is very slow to register a step. The pad itself is very responsive, so i can't think of what else it could be... It's not the computer. The computer is good. good computer. Anyone else's input on those converters would be good.

Okay, i have new info for you all.

The new batch of kiky-joy and super jobox use a clever kludge.

If you hold both left and right, the axis will pulse back and forth between left and right. This works fine with ddrpc (except that you can't PA jumps as well as you souhld be able to!), and sort of works with Stepmania. Because freezes take an amount of time to break, you can still do them, but jumps will be ever so slightly off, enough to ruin your perfect attack.

To use these converters with DWI, Joy2Key is needed, because it ALWAYS ignores axes. Depending on how joy2key functions, you may end up with anything between great response and horrible play.

The latest beta preview build fixes a bug in stepmania tha tprevents the y axis from working.

So, to sum up.

Old KIKY-JOY/OLD Super JOYBOX. will not work with ANY PC DDR, including Konamis' official one.

NEW KIKY JOY/NEW SUPER JOYBOX: almost fully compatible with DDRPC and Stepmania latest beta, requires Joy2Key for DWI compatability.

yeah, i just got some. Unfortuanately they suck.
They register fine with me(on time), it's just that it doesn't register good with joy2key but that's joytokey's fault. Joy2key doesn't fix anything... unless they can make the prog. register on time.
One other thing, they dont work with stepmania as this guy says in the quote. At least, they dont work for me, i tried everything and they dont work with stepmania final. Can anyone help me to make it work with stepmania? DWI works(only the buttons work, not the mat arrows!)
konami DDR for pc works perfectly!!! The reason it works is because the program, just like many other game programs, have axis joypad support. I dunno why the people who make DWI and stepmania did not go about trying to support axis for gamepads.... im not a programmer but that's a great thing to have in a game like this. But i guess i have to go head and buy the EMS2USB that everyone is raving about.
I know levelsix.com sells this EMS converter but lots of ppl have problems with the seller/site and complain.
here is another site:
http://jandaman.cybrhost.com/
but i never seen it before or heard about it... anyone know if they are more reliable than level6? thnx^^
WHY DONT THEY SUPPORT AXIS DANG IT!....argh.

Arg... I have a EMSUSB2 Adapter that works great on my desktop PC, but not at all on my laptop. Granted, I am asking this more along the lines of how to get a controller to work, not the dancepad because it's a little tough to play DDR on a laptop screen. I installed from the C drive before I plugged in the adapter. No luck. Installed after it was in. No luck. Manually installed drivers, and I got a "device cannot start" error. I am sure it's something little that I overlooked, but any help would be greatly appreciated!!

i think people could benefit from this too. i saw some sold at fry's the other day....but i totally do not remember what the name was or the company that made them..... riiight.gif has anyone seen some sold there?

Yea, I was at Fry's today and I saw it. It's called Kiky-Joy from Soyo. I wasn't paying attention, and didn't notice the box only claimed 98/ME/2000 support, and I just installed XP last week. I did a quick search and didn't find any XP support out there. I emailed tech support to see if there's any news on that front, but I doubt it.

It wouldn't be a proper trip to Fry's without a return trip shortly thereafter. E13.gif

If it has 2000 support, it most likely has XP support. it's the same kernel and everything

Whoa... I haven't posted in forever!

Hi all, I am the creator of the website http://junta.cromas.net/ (Other people help by submitting working adapters; go to the website to see a list of contributors) but I haven't updated it in forever!! E15.gif Can someone clue me in as to what's been happening lately? Like, I hear that EMS no longer makes a working DDR adapter... but it was the best deal back in the summer for a PS-to-PC adapter. So, just give me some postable info, like new DDR adapters or updates on existing adapters that decided to leave the DDR domain. devil.gif

~Jen~ - Thanks for all the nice compliments! E1.gif I thought my site would be dead by now... I also have a very old DDR metal pad website there too.

StepMania users: I have never posted on my website if the adapters on my website have compatibility with the program StepMania, but I plan to give it a whirl sometime so I can see if StepMania is any better than DWI. But as far as I know... DWI is great!! biggrin.gif

Another thing: HOLY COWW!!!! 4500 hits?!?! Man, how long have you guys been reloading my site to get that high of a number? Last time I checked, it was barely over 1000. erm.gif

E7.gif . i mgiht get one...i hope it works. its only one port though... but its not like i kn ow if my DWIs have double-mode songs on them so i really don't care now. i just hope the one port works ...... drool.gif

I have the Boom adapter and while it works, it can be problematic. Mainly, you plug it into your computer, and the device will only activate 20% of the time. If you unplug it and replug it a few times it might work (you learn to recognize the beeps WinXP gives when you plug in a USB device). I compare it to an old lawnmower: It's hard to get started, but once you get it going, it works great. E4.gif
