Wrong! These songs ARE in Extra mix. I have it, and those songs are in it. Yes, 3rd Mix has endless mode. I just got finished playing it. Got to song 36 and they gave me La Senorita Virtual...ugh _________________

What the guy above said. Those songs are in Extra mix. I also have it.
Also, please add www.japanvideogames.com to the list of places to buy from. They have most of the mixes (at least, the important ones: 2-6, Extra, Best) |

This may have been asked before, but I plan on importing a Mix, and mod my PSX. Now, I'm no electronics master, so I don't really wanna crack my PSX open to do this. I found a couple mod things(listed below), and it doesn't seem like you have to do anything hard to use it. So, keeping in mind that I really don't mind swapping CDs and waiting while I'm playing, will these things really do everything a mod chip does? Can it play all the DDR Mixes(preferably 3rd, 4th and/or 5th Mix, the three I'm considering buying)? And can I trust that these companies won't rip me off?? Thanks in advance, I'm really a stupid n00b when it comes to this kind of stuff.
3-in-1 Converter
PS Universal Converter
PSXChange 2
P.S.- What would you guys recommend? 3rd, 4th or 5th mix? _________________

If you have an old style PSX that came with the parrel I/O port, then get the 3-in-1 converter. I own a clone(they are all the same) of it, and it boots up every import I own. And the fact that it can store boot codes is an outomatic plus. And I reccomend 3rd and 5th Mixes. _________________

So do you just plug it in to the back of the PSX, pop in the CD, and it works? Thanks in advance! _________________

If you dont mind swapping disks then you don't have to buy anything... escept possibly another ps if the disk motor breaks. Anyway, AT YOUR OWN RISK:
1) Find an object that will keep the button in the back right corner of the playstaion disk tray depressed even while the cover is up.
2) Insert a demo or any other disk that works with a US ps and hit the ON button.
3) Eventually, the disk will spin a lot faster than it was. Then it will slow down. Quickly take this disk off the spindle and replace it with the Import Disk.
4) The import will spin just like the first disk did. When it slows down, replace it with the demo again.
5) Now the usual Playstation logo should come up. When it goes to a black screen, switch the disks again and enjoy.
This method is much easier than it sounds, but it takes quite a bit of practice. I have heard that it can ruin the system, but I have been doing it for abot a year and nothing is wrong with mine. Also, I have heard this doesn't work with 5th mix and I know it doesn't always work with 4th. You should have no problem with the others though.

Well, first you pop in the device, make sure the button in the back of your PSX is pressed,(The buttin in inder the lid. Open the lid and look for a little pole in the upper-right. Under that is the button. Most devices come witha spring to do this. If it dosent come with one, use a pen cap or toothpic.), then once the disc stops spinning, then load your import(or burned game in most peoples cases) into the PSX, close the lid, then choose to start the game. Bam, your done.
Youre welcome _________________

I have both Dreamcast versions so I'll briefly discuss them.
2nd MIX for Dreamcast is essentially the same as the PlayStation version, but is a tad better. The load times, which were short on PS to begin with, are essentially gone. The Bonus Track mode that features some 3rd MIX songs has more songs in it (7: Let Them Move, Keep On Movin', 20, November, Dynamite Rave, Captain Jack, The Race and In The Navy '99). The graphics and animation are a bit smoother. Other than that, there's not much different. All of the songs from 2nd MIX arcade are included. I believe some extra steps may have been included for some songs, but I haven't tried them myself.
Pros:
+ Slightly faster load times, better graphics than PS version
+ More songs than PS version
+ System file takes up virtually no room on VMU
Cons:
- Edits incompatible with PlayStation version or arcade machines
Club Version for Dreamcast is essentially the complete game (it was split into two Append discs for the PlayStation). There is nothing changed except for the same differences I mentioned above (load times, graphics and the like). Furthermore, it's a stand-alone game. Nothing much more to say. I think the songlist is decent, but a lot of people hate it, heh.
Pros:
+ Slightly faster load times, better graphics than PS version
+ It's on one disc now, not two
+ System file takes up virtually no room on VMU
+ No need to append, just boot and play
Cons:
- Edits incompatible with PlayStation version or arcade machines
- Obscure songlist not for everybody
DDRMAX for PS2, JPN version, since nobody's talked about it yet:
Yay, it's DDRMAX, the 6th MIX of DDR. If you've ever played it in the arcade, then you know exactly what you're getting; the PS2 version is almost an exact copy of the arcade game, with few differences.
Two songs have been added: "So In Love" and "Kind Lady," and are still home-exclusive until DDR EX comes out. They're unlocked at 20 and 40 cleared songs, respectively.
The other big change is high-resolution in-game graphics for the first time (also in the USA version). Everything else is the same: the 60fps animation, the movies, the songlist... everything. There's a visual bug here and there but nothing that'll bother you too much. Overall... pretty awesome if you ask me.
Pros:
+ Some of the most challenging and fun steps ever created
+ One of the best new songlists ever
+ A virtually flawless arcade translation
Cons:
- You need a Japanese or modified PS2 to play it, and both are hard to come by
- Overall, the songlist is pretty small
- A couple of minor bugs
- Barely any extras or unlockable features
Hope this is a decent contribution =)

Hmmm... sounds a bit different then I imagined... Hey Eck0!, does that 3-in-1 converter play all the DDRs(well, besides the Maxes, of course!)? And do you know what the PSXChange 2 is like? _________________

ENDLESS MODE is a chalanging mode in DDR PC where like Workout mode(3rd mix - DDR MAX US) it selects one song after another endlessley. i kind of wished this mode was in DDR MAX US under oni ^_^ |
4th and 3rd Mixes had the same thing. _________________

I diddnt know EVENT MODE did that. That kicks ass. Ive always hated having to stop for a minute when my momentum peaks at the 5th song. Thanks for the info. Oh, does it unlock songs that you havent unlocked already?
And about Extra Mix, how do I go about unlocking the hidden songs? Ive been playing it alot, and nothing new. Not even this"sexy nurse" title screen ive heard about. _________________

Event Mode for the PSX Versions makes it so that you can keep selecting songs, even if you get a game over. You don't go back to the title screen unless you cancel out of the Song Select screen(Like you would if you wanted to stop before you reach the final stage). _________________
