Quote: | I just bought the ems adapter but i plugged it in before i installed the drivers so it doesnt work. It says to go to control panel, system, device manager, and select the drivers update button, but i cant seem to find that on windows ME. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks |
I don't have this particular adapter, so I don't know exactly where it would be, but the two categories I think it could be under when you go into Device Manager and select View Devices By Type would be either under Human Interface Devices, Sound, Video and Game Controllers, or maybe under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. (Mine is under Sound, Video and Game controllers). Click on the icon for your adapter, then click on Properties. Click on the Driver tab, and then the Update Drivers button will be toward the bottom. Hope this helps!

Yeah...eheh..disredard that last post I made about it not working..It seems I didn't read the part about setting it as PSX Analog Left. I got it working with both SMMax and DWI. I feel VERY stupid now.. I do have a question though, since the adapter runs on windows drivers, is there a way to make it work with any DOS programs, like Zsnes? I know there's Zsnes windows version, but it runs pretty crappy on my system.. _________________

Hi to all!
This is the right post for my question: I desire an adapter PC/PSX that works with WinXP and with DWI. I'm searching for it with USB support, and in this great post i've seen this one:
EMS USB Controller Adapter
I have some question: it is double adapter, so can i connect 2 dance mat? Has Anyone tried this?
I think so...but the enourmos problem for me: adaptator costs about $15 and it's ok, but i live in Italy (Europe) so, at ps2modchip they wants.... 60$ for spedition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The question is...Are there any european (or better italian) internet shops that sells this adaptor? I can't spend 60$ for spedition....
This is the only adaptator which has TWO ports???
And what about the "PS & PS2 to PC USB Adapter - Super Joy Box 4" ??? Does it works under WinXP with DWI with 2 dance mats for playing double?
Tnx a lot for your answers!!!!!
Regards

Not long ago, I just bought a Kiky-Joy converter, and I just realized that the D-Pad arrows can't be read by DWI or Stepmania and I heard that this may be a problem with many people here who have converters (Until I find a real solution, I will play DDR the F'ed up way, by turning the pad diagonally).
I was wonderin if there's a way that it can be done (only for those who have Win98, win2k) without wasting more money, or if the makers of DWI or Stepmania will make a coding that will enable us to play converted devices soon.
DAMMIT! I wanna see how long will I last on Pulse! _________________

i just got my EMS adapter and it does work, sort of, it doesnt work with freeze arrows and it seems really goofy on jumps (you have to execute them earlier than normal) . Do freeze arrows and jumps work for anyone else with the EMS, any help is appreciated. |

I just got the EMS adapter and finally got it to work, but my jumps work fine and freeze arrows only work once and a while, the freeze arrows that never work r the ones that r jump freeze arrows like a left-right freeze. _________________

What did you mean by finally getting it to work, what kind of problems, tweaking did you encounter. |

Junta, how did you get your EMS adapter to work perfectly, while these other two guys have problems with jumps and freeze arrows? |

I've been grabbing information from this thread in my quest to jury-rig my dance pad to my PC and get it working under the DWI program. Anyhow, I finally got it to work, double button presses and all, and thought that I'd post the instructions on how I got it to work in the event that someone else finds themselves in the same situation.
The Requirements:
(aka: my setup, these directions may apply to others as well, but no guarantees)
- Dance pad using a parallel interface.
- Windows XP
What You Need:
- A copy of the DWI program (found at http://www.ddrmaniax.net/dwi/downloads.html)
- NTPad driver software (found at http://www.ntpad.com.ar/)
Making It Work:
- Install DWI (or have already done this)
- Have your pad connected to the parallel port.
- Uncompress the NTPad software, and run 'install.exe' to have the new drivers be recognized by Windows.
- In the NTPad installation, make sure to use 'PlayStation (Original)' as the type.
- Open up the control panel, then go to 'Game Controllers'.
- If there isn't an entry which reads 'NTPAD XP con ForceFeedback 2.0' (or similar) then go to 'Add Hardware' (in the control panel) and let the system scan for new hardware. It *should* find the pad and install it for you.
- If the pad is there, check the 'status' column. If it doesn't say 'OK' you may have to take out the parallel cable, then put it back in. If that doesn't work, you may have to connect the parallel cable and restart the computer.
- Once the status reads 'OK' then highlight it, and select 'properties', then go to 'config' and check the box that reads 'Disable axes mapping (for games like Dance Dance Revolution)' (this solves the problem that some people have of the computer mapping the directions to the two axis positions). Go to 'buttons mapping' and make sure that all but buttons work, and that you can press two at once. If they don't work, you may have to manually calibrate and define the buttons on the pad. If everything works, you are ready to play!
-Open up DWI, and go into the button configuration, and redefine all the buttons. (ie: the part where you press a button for 'up', 'down' etc.)
-Open up a song and hope for the best!
One afterthought is that I wasn't using any sort of converter to hook into the computer; the pad I have is actually a parallel pad which has a converter to go from that to PSX (opposite of the usual).
Anyhow, I hope someone comes along and finds this helpful.. I'll try to answer any questions about this, but I don't know how many I'll be able to actually answer!

Just an update of how is my BNS parallel adapter working-MAKE SURE THAT YOUR SONGS ARE PERFECTLY SYNCHED,when you are playing with your fingers you may even not notice some minimal desynchronization, but when you play with a pad,if the arrows are a BIT off-beat,you will feel it,just and advice,I had to spend a lot of time resynching nearly all of my songs.A lil question, the EMS and the BNS adapters are the same thing? |

But.....B4evermackin.....my question was about the ems adapter...because i'd like to play double songs on dwi! With two dance mats...! I know that the parallel adaptator works, but i have only one parallel port...How can i do? Can I use a splitter for parallel port, and than connect two dance mats? Do u think that's work? Has anyone try this solution?
Regards

The EMS adapter works great with doubles, u dont need to split anything, its one parallel port for two controllers, one controller slot on each side. _________________

Hey all! Sorry for the long absence! I will update the page on Monday. (that's tomorrow!) Hopefully.
For the EMS adapter, to answer a few questions... I too have been experiencing some strangeness with this adapter. It takes jumps pretty slowly, and freeze arrows work only if you are a "LEGEND!!". But honestly, the adapter seems to be a bit on the laggy side. Therefore, you need to be very very good at DDR and at timing (almost to the nearest millisecond) to score points. Bleh, who wants to do that?!?!
I'll read the rest tomorrow! (and I'll take some time to test the adapter out more tomorrow.....) Time for this ddrfreak to go back to school. And right when I got my adapters. _________________

VICTORY!! I finally got my EMS usb adapter working and id say working pretty darn well. It works steps, freeze steps, jumps and freeze jumps now, before it would only occasionally do these things and it would do them half-assedly. Anyway for those who plan on using this go to the levelsix website and then to their downloads section and get joytokey. Open the joytokey program and map buttons 13 = up 14 = right 15 = down and 16 = left (for the full button map go to control panel game controllers properties) on the Others tab (in joytokey) leave emulation to default and move the sensitivity to around 50 (play with this for preference iv found that 50 seems pretty good it knocks out the lag) note. there is no need to adjust anything else have fun!!! |

But b4evermackin....the EMS adapter uses the USB port not the PARALLEL port...or i'm wrong?
X Junta:
I'm waiting for your new review about the EMS
