Okay, so far the best working adapters that we have that are confirmed to work properly with DWI/Stepmania are the BOOM adapter from http://www.lik-sang.com and the EMS USB2 adapter available from http://www.Levelsix.com

Yep, those are, by far, the best working adapters...
And don't forget...
(points to website labeled "List of working PS-to-PC Adapters for DDR emulation") E4.gif The list goes on, too. E15.gif Thanks to this thread, we now have about 7-8 working adapters.

E19.gif Hmm, I'm really intrigued about the Kiki-Joy Adapter now, as it seems like there are some who say that it works with the new drivers and others who say it doesn't. I recently bought the Kiki-Joy Adapter to see if it worked with DWI, and it didn't. Then I remembered the talk about how it was the new drivers that allowed it to work properly, and so I downloaded them from Soyo's site. However, the adapter still doesn't work. I checked to see what drivers were being used in Control Panel->System->Device Manager, and it seemed like it was still using the default Windows drivers. After multiple attempts to check out on my computer what the heck running the kiki-joy.exe file that's supposed to copy the drivers does, I can't find *any* kind of driver files that were created or put on my computer from running this file. Am I missing something? Can anyone help? I'm running Windows ME, and I'd be more than happy to provide any other details asked for. E1.gif Thanks!

(PS--Junta, love your page! It's great that someone's taking the time to make a comprehensive page like that!! Bravo!)

I ordered the Kiki-joy adapters (I got two just incase I could play double) and now I"m having issues with Windows XP...I'm getting an error installing it from the USB Human Interface (or something to that effect)...does anyone else get this error? and how do I go about fixing it?

riiight.gif Heh heh, I'm actually trying to do the next best thing so I won't have to go through the hassle of returning it--selling it to a friend (who only needs it for a regular controller and doesn't need it for dance pads, of course!)

I have a USB adaptor that works near Flawless. Just the rumble feature doesn't work right. But that won't matter with the Pads. There isn't a lag or anything. There are a few keys to keep in mind.

1. I have Windows ME. Not sure if it works for you XPers. But I hear it does.
2. There is a certain driver that you need to download. But it comes with a diskette.

I have used it for a PS2 Pad. Works great. Both analog sticks and all buttons work. I then connected it to a pad wondering if it would work. And it did!

Anyway, I think it's called a Joybox. Something in that manner. It is black and grey, and has a USB outlet on the back. I'll post a pic as soon as I find batteries for my camera. I got it at a store that is no longer existant. So you'll have to find it elsewhere. Do a search. Hopefully it will show up.

The original packaging didn't say BOOM. I've since lost it, but it does work great.

Edit:
Oh, just checked on LikSang, and it seems to be the same one. I can highly recommend it.

The Radioshack brand USB/PSX adapter works, too - it works fine with my MadCatz ghettopad. That is, if you ignore all the phantom steps and you're willing to bridge it. The pad's only $20, so I can't feel too bad about ripping it up that way.

what does it mean to bridge the adapter? i purchased the radioshack adapter and it didnt work for me, even with joy2key. winxp still forced it to behave like its on axes.

dogshaman, what emu are you using and what OS? explain your situation a little more?

You're not supposed to bridge the adapter - you're bridging the circuit board in that little plastic casing on the front of the pad. Basically, you're constructing wire leads from the buttons to an axis on the pad - that way, when you hit an axis it also activates a button. And controllers have no problem whatsoever with activating two buttons at once. This is why you can use the controller buttons on the pad in lieu of the axes - works great on an unbridged pad except for that the buttons are about a foot further apart than they should be. I have a link to a tutorial for pad bridging, it's floating around here somewhere. When I find it, I'll post it (assuming someone else hasn't already).

I use Win XP and Dance With Intensity - and I didn't use joy2key at all. Joy2key does nothing to fix the problem with the axes if you've got the wrong adapter - no matter what you map the axes to (say, a key on the
keyboard), there's still no way for the wrong adapter to read both sides of an axis at once.

Ahhhh CHRIST! I got my parallel port adapter from BNS today and of course, it doesn't work! frust.gif I mean it works, but when I try to map the buttons in DWI I can only set the X, O, Triangle and Square buttons...rather than the arrows. When I try to set them in Stepmania I just get some 'Access Violation' error, and it shuts down. Not to mention that ZSnes won't recognize it...grrr I'm very disapointed in this piece of crap. Does some one possibly have a solution to this problem? If not...I'm just gonna snap. disgust.gif

Well, some days ago I said that I would get a BNS parallel adapter for using it with DWI and WIN XP.A few days ago,I received my adapter($5 and free shipping, not a big loss if it didnt worked.)I downloaded the NTPad driver(if you are running XP then NTPAD must be the driver to use). The setup was easy as hell,I suck at computers and a 1st grader could do the instalation. When I finished the NTpad drivers installation,I went to controller options on control panel and clicked configure on my recently installed pad,YOU MUST TURN ON THE OPTION THAT ENABLES AXES ACT AS BUTTONS,in fact the option has in parenthesis "for games like Dance Dance Revolution" laugh.gif .Then I opened DWI and went to the options for configurating my controller.I mapped each corresponding button, and the best ocurred-the pad WORKED!!Im using one of those cheap but awesome madcatz beatpad and Im feeling the joy of playing DDR at home. The BNS parallel adaptor works, its not plug n`play, but its very easy and Im very satisfied with it. biggrin.gif

You must get the right drivers for your Windows first, and then open the installation .exe that comes with the drivers and follow the instructions. It doesnt matter if you conected the adapter first. The .exe icon on NT pad is a PSX blue controller, hope that helps!!
