Hi all,

I have a 3d Mix Korea 2 non-playstation-slot machine that I am planning to upgrade to 5th Mix. However, I have some friends that like some of the 3d Mix songs that are not on 5th Mix.

If I upgrade my machine to 5th Mix, can I merely swap parts/discs back and be able to play 3d Mix again, or does the upgrade do something internally such that the machine cannot go back?

Assume that the upgrade is a legit upgrade kit from Konami.

Thanks,

a.

Install discs do not come for 3rd Korea1, 3rd Kv2, 3rd Asian, or USA.

So, once you upgrade it to 5th, it can't be 3rd Mix Korea anymore.

BUT, you can downgrade it to 4th or 3rd Japanese provided that you have the install CDs. As long as you have install CDs for the mix you want to play, you are free to up and downgrade to your heart's content.

Jeff,

Thank you for your quick reply. I have another question for you.

You mentioned something about having the install disk for each mix, that as long as I have that disk for the corresponding mix, I can upgrade or downgrade. Question is -- if there are no install disks for KoreaV2, how did KoreaV2 get installed in the first place? Also, if something goes wrong with the disk that is in there now, I have no way of restoring the KoreaV2 version?

Thanx again,

a.

I don't know for sure, but I'm assuming that it's preloaded on the hardware during manufacturing.

Yes. The boards were preloaded when they left Konami. They came with the game CD only just so that they are operable. I imagine that if you had say, DDR USA, could sent the motherboard back to Konami for them to reloaded. Since 3rd Korea is not an import game, it would be very hard to get it reinstalled. I doubt if Konami even supports the game any more in Korea for that matter.

If you really are stuck on the 3rd Mix songs, you probably can find a 4th Mix upgrade by asking an arcade that recently upgraded to Max or Max2. That way you get all of the 4th songs and some Korean songs.

Other than that, you could look for a 3rd Japanese kit but I'm pretty sure that would require more digging around.

Why would the hardware be written? What about the 32MB flash card?
