But how reliable is BlueShark though? I keep hearing things about "it's a 50/50 chance you'll get a good pad" and that their customer service is horrible? I don't want to throw away my money...

I'm not too new to DDR, but my red octane soft pad has fallen apart and i'm going to invest into a metal pad. Here were the two I was looking at
