I believe it's in gameplay or machine options. It should say something like "Options Menu" SHOW - HIDE - PROMPT. If you turn it to "hide" only the first options menu will show up, not the other one.

Many people have said that the J-PAC does NOT work properly with the ddr JAMMA harness for some reason. You have to redo the wiring somewhat to get all of the inputs to work properly.

Have you tried forcing the computer to believe there is a sound card. In windows you should be able to add new hardware even though it isn't physically there.

I think that settings moves the whole stepchart, not just the timing window.

If my memory serves correctly, you can press F8 while playing. I think it's also in the operator menu somewhere (Scroll Lock). Probably in input settings.
