|
|
So basically I'm a regular with DDR and I want to play my favorite DDR SuperNOVA songs on my local ITG2 machine. I'm one of those people who doesn't really like the ITG songs/stepcharts, but that's beside the point.
I've got my favorite SuperNOVA songs in .smi format on my computer and I use those files to play on StepMania. What I'm wondering is how can I take those files and stick them on a USB drive to play on ITG? I read a ton of posts about "edits" and found a bunch of them but they all appear to be remade ITG songs.
Help an ITG noob out/point me in the direction of an FAQ?
Thanks,

1. Make sure your machine is updated to r21 or later with custom songs enabled
2. make sure your simfiles are in .sm format and their audio is in .ogg format
3. Make a folder on your USB in /In The Groove 2/ called "Songs"
4. Put your song folders into that folder
5. Take USB to r21 or later machine with custom songs enabled and have fun playing your songs from the USB drive
alternatively, you can hack the machine, but I am not going to get into that |

Also, try not to have more than 50 custom songs, as it may screw up your USB's connection with the game. _________________

My machine is an In the Groove 2 machine, and from what I read those come standard with R21 installed. If that's not true, where do I check to see if the machine is equipped with R21? Also, if it isn't, can I install it myself without hacking the machine?
I definitely don't want to get into the whole hacking scene. Too messy.
Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

If it's R21 (or later), there will be an option in Machine Options to enable custom songs. _________________

When you put a credit in, look at the bottom of the screen. It should have rX and where X is there is a number. If that number is 21 or 23 and it says "Custom Songs Enabled" under the number, your machine is ready.
If it says r1, you can't update it without getting a new hard drive from Roxor.
If it says r2, r5, r8, r11, r14, or r16, it is updatable. Download the r21 or r23 patch from Roxor's website and put the .itg file on a USB drive on the root (example E:\, NOT E:\In The Groove 2). Go to the arcade and get a tech or manager to get you into the operator's menu. Plug the USB stick in and choose "machine update". Your machine is now updated to r21 or r23. Now go into "Game Options" and enable custom songs. |
